Great tool, perfect dimensions
My first one of these came with a Marvel Hammer and sear fitting jig bought from Brownells over 30 years ago. It finally got loaded up enough and dull ended to need replacement after literally hundreds of trigger jobs. Just keep it clean, file chalk helps as does using a thread cutting fluid (I use TapMagic) and remember that very light pressure is all that is needed. Just take care to keep it squared to the hooks when using it. As a bonus, it works well combined with the trigger track ceramic stones Brownells sells to dress down little flaws inside the trigger track in a receiver.

NEW FUNCTION FOR THIS FILE !!!!!!!!
HAVE DISCOVERED A NEW USE FOR THIS AWESOME FILE & WANTED TO SHARE IT, WITH MY "SHOOTING FAMILY".......... NEEDED TO INSTALL A MIL-SPEC PICATINNY "RING RISER" ON TOP OF A #11 WEAVER BASE & DISCOVERED THE WEAVER BASE SLOT IS UNDERSIZED IN BOTH THE DEPTH & WIDTH. GOT OUT THE FILES & WENT TO WORK ON THAT SLOT & THINKING "DON'T BLOW THIS. GOT TO KEEP THE BOTTOM & SIDES OF THE SLOT 90 DEGREE SQUARE". AFTER WIDENING THE SLOT IN THE BASE, I SUDDENLY THOUGHT ABOUT THE FILE IN QUESTION. 2 SAFE SIDES & 2 VERY FINE CUT SIDES, WOULD BE PERFECT TO FINISH CUTTING THE NOTCH. MEASURED THE DIMENSIONS ON THE FILE & THE NOTCH ON THE PICTATINNY RISER---DIMENSIONS WERE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO EACH OTHER !!!!!!!!!! SO, IF YOU EVER HAVE TO MODIFY THE SLOT ON A WEAVER BASE, REMEMBER TO USE YOUR 1911 HAMMER HOOK FILE & CHALK THE CUTTING TEETH WHILE IN USE----OOORAH !!!

A must have tool
I used this on my hammer (1911) which after looking at it under magnification needed help. I was able to file my hammer hooks straight and true. It cuts really nice and without a lot of effort. Save the edges on your stones. Use them for polishing up after you square the hooks. The safety edges are nice and flat and I imagine this will last a very long for hobby smith like myself. I am thoroughly please with my pistol post trigger job. This is a worthwhile investment.
