Starting as a high-grade forging, each frame is precision machined to exacting specifications for exceptional fit and performance, making it a substantial step above cheap generic 1911 frames. An ideal foundation for any custom 1911, each Brownells BRN-1911 Government Model frame arrives ready for the slide, barrel, sights, and fire-control components of your choice to be fitted. All holes are drilled in one setup, allowing for more accurate alignment throughout.

NOTE: Gunsmith fitting is required - a well-built 1911 ain’t no plug-n-play plastic pistol

  • .250" radius cuts for an extended beavertail safety

Each BRN-1911 1911 Government Model frame comes with a pre-cut .250" radius on the tang, ready for an extended Ed Brown style grip safety to protect the web of the shooter’s hand from the dreaded "hammer bite."

An excellent frame…great value…
I’ve built a dozen or more 1911 pistols on the Brownells frame. These frames have been uniformly excellent and require minimal fitting compared to other brands. In fact…on several builds the slides needed no fitting at all. The standard .250 tang radius is a nice touch. That it’s stainless is great. If I have any suggestions for Brownells it is to offer these frames in Commander and Officers sizes as well.

A great puzzle piece
