1911 EXTREME SERVICE MAGAZINE CATCH Reviews & Ratings

Heavy duty tactical magazine catch ensures secure mag retention and fast, reliable release under extreme service and competition conditions. Serrated button is 1⁄16" taller than factory button to provide positive, non-slip finger contact to help you drop the magazine on the first attempt. The interior of the catch is relieved to prevent you from over-extending the catch and trapping the spent magazine. Available in stainless or carbon steel. Does not include catch lock and spring.

SPECS: Carbon steel, blued, or stainless steel (SS), natural finish.

True drop in
Used this to replace a competition style mag catch release on my Colt Officer's ACP. The process takes about a minute, maybe two. Zero fitting required, it was a complete drop in fit. The finish of the stainless was an adequate match to my stainless Officer's ACP. I wish all work was this easy. Testing afterward: it works, that's all I can ask for!

Dropped in, works perfectly
I used the Harrison stainless magazine catch to replace the blued MIM catch that came with my Ruger SR1911 CMD. Part dropped right in, works perfectly and looks great on my stainless 1911. Note you will need to order the catch lock and spring also unless you will be reusing your existing parts. Very pleased with this product.

Perfect Fit
Like the title says, fit perfectly, works properly and took all of two minutes to install in my old Kimber Custom.

Will buy again.
Part went into gun with minor fitting which I would rather have than falling in. Minimal clearance. Looks good in gun.

The best 1911 mag catch
This is the best mag catch you can get for a 1911. It fit my Kimber perfect with no fitting. It has a built in stop so you cannot push the button in too far as to hit the magazine such as with the Brown ext mag catch.

SS mag catch
Drop in fit to my Springfield TRP. Works 100%, with factory and WC 47d mags. Another great product form harrison!

GREAT FIT AND FUNCTION!!!
I tried two different Ed Brown extended tactical releases and neither one fit for functioned well. They also did not have a stop machined into it to keep the release from being pushed too far and jamming the mag.I was disappointed in the Ed Brown Product!!! BUT, I was impressed with the fit of this one! I put it in...the only thing I did was clean up the casting/machining marks. It was smooth and didn't over-extend as stated. Great Part!

"Drop in" is always hit or miss
Three stars due to "tolerance stacking." I installed this in an STI Spartan 9mm. The mag catch would not seat fully into the frame. After trying it in several other 1911s and finding it fit fine in them, I used a 5/16 end mill, spinning it by hand in reverse, to clean up any burrs that may have been in the Armscor frame. Then I found it trapped the magazine while reloading, on all of the 1911s I installed it in. The Armscor mag catch lock may be too short, I didn't compare it to others. I relieved the inside of the mag catch with a sanding drum on my dremel. Overall, I'm not unhappy with it and it appears to be a high quality part. But I always assume 1911 parts will need some fitting.

Didn't have a good experience
I bought this extended mag release button based on the 5 star reviews it got. I tried to install it in a Colt Series 80 government model and though it fit the frame fine I could not get the holding screw to turn enough to release when installing. When compared to the original Colt release, which works perfectly, it appears there's no clearance notch to allow the tab to pivot in the frame.
