1911 DS PRODIGY AOS 9MM LUGER SEMI-AUTO HANDGUN

1911 DS PRODIGY AOS 9MM LUGER SEMI-AUTO HANDGUN Reviews & Ratings

1911 DS PRODIGY AOS 9MM LUGER SEMI-AUTO HANDGUN

The Prodigy from Springfield Armory takes the proven 1911 platform and enhances it with double-stack capacity, performance-driven feature set and a bundled HEX Dragonfly red dot. Reconfigured around a double-stack magazine, the Prodigy’s polymer grip module mounts to its forged steel frame offering capacities of 10+1, 17+1 and 20+1. Optics ready with an ambidextrous safety and Picatinny rail the Prodigy combines the most beloved characteristics of the 1911 with modern capacity for unrivaled performance.

FEATURES:

  • The 3.5", 4.25” or 5” Prodigy features a bull barrel that allows you to not only recover quickly for follow-up shots, but also get match-grade accuracy.
  • From its flush-fitting 10, 15 or 17-round magazines to the extended 20-rounder —both included standard with the pistol — the Prodigy will never come up short on capacity.
  • The Prodigy employs AOS (Agency Optic System) plates that accept today’s most popular optics.
  • A double-zipper case is included with each Springfield Armory handgun. The soft-sided shell ensures the firearm and mounted accessories are protected during transportation, while an interior pouch can hold an additional magazine.

Worth Every Penny
If you're looking for a quality 9mm 1911 with major upgrades, extreme shoot-ability, for an entry level price...this is the weapon system for you! I own multiple 9mm 1911s and this is by far my favorite, and the least expensive. Smooth tracking slide, already cut for optics, affordable magazines from Duramag, compatible with most 9mm double stack 1911 accessories and parts, great grip texture, bull barrel and this all comes with the wonderful customer service from Springfield! What more can you ask for?!?!

Just So Easy To Shoot!
I purchased a 5" version from one of my local retailers a little over a week ago. I am an avid Glock guy, and wanted to experience the 2011 life, but didn't want to pay the Staccato price. So, I figured the DS would allow me to try a good 2011 pistol out at a much more decent price. Man, I am very pleased with my purchase! It is the upgraded model (post feed issue upgraded), and it runs like a dream. I have 400rds through it at this point and have only had one failure (light strike, that I am going to attribute to the crap Ammo Inc ammo, I get the same thing with my Glocks when shooting this ammo) that has happened. The pistol just shoots so flat and smooth, it is extremely easy to stay on target and run fast accurately. It is a heavy pistol, but I think that this is what makes it so easy to shoot. The styling of the pistol is very subtle, yet low key aggressive, pictures do not do it justice.

Not so good
I bought a 4.25" Prodigy on 1/7/24 ran several different types of ammo through it and found that fmj bullets ran well through it but could not find a hollow point that would not jam! Even after cleaning! I'm not sure if i put 150 rounds through it! Then the safety began to fail, after that it went back to Springfield where it is now! I have 3 other Springfield pistols 2 1911s and a sa35 they are all great pistols and have never failed!! I'm sure that Springfield will make it right! Though frustrating after spending over 1300$!!!
