1911 DROP-IN MAXI-WELL Reviews & Ratings

Drops right onto 1911 Auto frames without gunsmithing, and the separate magazine well can be removed without disassembling the pistol. Enlarged magwell greatly increases frame opening for faster and easier magazine changes. Flat housing increases grip surface area to help keep the pistol from riding up during rapid fire. Available in blue or stainless steel with 25 lpi machined checkering that helps keep the pistol centered in your grip. Also available with the exclusive Chainlink and Chainlink II designs. Both machined-in patterns provide a very secure, non-slip gripping surface, without the “sharpness” of conventional checkering that can sometimes abrade your hand or grab at your clothing during a concealed carry draw.

SPECS: Steel, blued (BL) or stainless steel (SS). Available with 20, 25, or 30 lpi checkering, or with chainlink or chainlink II patterns.

Ten-minute upgrade

After a quick review of Brownell's how-to video, I removed my Colt Competition PLASTIC backstrap and mainspring housing and replaced it with the steel 25 LPI version and attached enlarged magwell.

No fitting required

I replaced the ILS mainspring housing on my Springfield Loaded with the drop-in Ed Brow Maxi-Well. No fitting required, no need to purchase a spring kit, you could use the OEM internals from the original MSH. This drop-in magwell will fit directly on other Springfield 1911s with no fitting(TRP/TRP Operator/Mil-spec) Very satisfied with my purchase, highly recommend!

True Drop-In Part

Easy to install no fitting necessary just dropped in my Rock Island 1911 Pro Match Ultra. Exact fit no wiggle on the mainspring housing. Also liked it the two-piece option, it allowed me to align magwell to the magazine port. A little loctite 242 on the bolt o secure the magwell in place. So far more than 100x magazine insertion the magwell stayed center to the magazine port. Also it matched the aftermarket golf ball patterned grips I have installed.

Good Quality Magwell

This magwell is exactly what i was looking for to add to my Colt Competition Series. Appeared to be easy to install and it required no gunsmithing/fitting. I also had to order Wilson Combat G10 grips with flat square bottom from Brownells to match the new magwell. Also got Tripp Research mags with plastic base pads to be used in IPSC and they work well with this magwell. For those who live in Canada - it took 10 days to deliver this item and I paid only $10 for delivery. It is hard to find such product up in Canada, was only able to spot a similar magwell made by Wilson Combat for CDN$250 plus tax. Constantly updated tracking helped me to trace the package to its actual location. One more thing - Brownells web site is awesome, Its designers and developers deserve highest recognition, as well as call center workers. Will definitely shop with Brownells again.

Easy to install & Looks great

The mainspring & MagWell Is as functional as it looks good. Very easy to install. Does what it was designed for. A little miss putting a magazine just slides in.
