I bought the barrel for my Ed Brown Goverment model. The barrel dropped right in with no barrel work needed.
At the range the bullet goes where I aim the barrel.

This was my first time re-barreling a 1911. It took a small amount of fitting to the barrel hood, but then it was instant tack-driver. I bought another Ed Brown barrel for my Commander. Ed Brown makes a fine drop-in barrel!

Installed Ed brown drop in match barrel on a Kimber target II- Group size at 25 yards 1 3/4’’ reduced from 3.0’’ see online Ed brown instructing very important to review prior to installing barrel - which will require some fitting – Barrel is very high quality and precisely machined- very impressed with upgrade on target accuracy.
Requiring minor fitting is not a Con.
After reading the other reviews I decided to buy to upgrade my carry 1911A1. Upon inspection I found the machining and assembly/fitment of parts to be excellent. The bore, rifling and chamber were excellently cut and on par for the overall cost. Installation: Tried with 2 different slides. First, a 50yr old Colt mfg. it dropped right in. Second, the slide (new mfg.) I used; it was a drop in fit for the hood but required minor fitting of the rear lug slot. In MHO, if you can follow the online instructions by Ed Jones, have a proper file, marker pen, patience and attention for detail you can fit one of these. The only exception would be if one needs to shorten the hood length. Then to be safe, you will need chamber gages and maybe a chamber reamer. But who am I, just a retired LEO, gun hobbyist and machinist?
