I use this product and a standard recoil spring guide to replace the full length guide rods in 1911 Government model pistols. I and many experts feel that the full length guide rod adds nothing to the reliability of the 1911 platform, and causes issues during the take down process. This and a standard recoil spring guide rod are drop in parts on any Government model 1911 with a barrel bushing installed. No fitting required, and in most cases, your already existing recoil spring from the full length guide rod system works with the new parts.
Great for thick flange bushing
I put a reverse crown on my barrel and use a thick flange bushing. this plug works great as it fits flush with the thick flange bushing I got from EGW. Being a Wilson part its high quality and durable.
Fits SA Loaded Target 9MM
Ordered for a Springfield Armory Loaded Target 1911A1 9MM stainless. I do not like the two piece recoil spring guide rod and plug sleeve and they had to go before I would even take it shooting. This recoil spring plug matched the finish of the handgun, the ringed design gave just enough purchase to depress the plug without it slipping. Mated up well with the barrel bushing and Wilson combat short guide rod. I did not need to modify it to fit. The length was perfect and now I do not need to use any tools to take the handgun apart.
Simple but good looking plug
I was looking at custom engraved plugs to set my 1911 build apart a bit. But when I saw these I opted for my build. These are simple and distinctive looking plugs that will make your 1911 much more interesting to look at. Dropped right in and looks amazing.
Something Different
This is a great piece for those of us that try to make our 1911 a little different than the next guy. I have this plug in blue and SS. It's beautiful and looks cool. It's a great alternative to the standard checkered plug. It dropped right in on my Dan Wesson. My gun enthusiast friends have all commented on the looks. This is purely for looks, and it won't disappoint. Like all Wilson parts, the SS is high shine and may not match your finish. The quality is impeccable as expected.

Dropped in perfectly on my RIA GI
I installed this in my RIA 5" GI pistol without any problems. It dropped in without needing shortened so if you plan on using in an RIA, I wouldn't worry about it being to long.

Nice lookin' plug.
Like the others stated, the plug was too long, but I found that I could cut it down with my 45 Colt case trimmer. I then deburred it and it was good to go.Looks great on my Dan Wesson PM7-45
