Barstock Hammer
These are high quality hammers. I repaired two 1911s with them over the last month. Hammer hooks are a little bit longer than the match prepped hammers and that is what I needed.
Would you recommend this?
Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Ed Brown always excellent quality
Ed Brown hammers have been a staple in my 1911 builds for at least 30 years!
Excellent
This is a very nice addition to any 1911. It has a classy and unique look to it, and when it says a light stoning is all that is needed to achieve a smooth crisp trigger pull, they mean it. It was good just dropped in. After some very light stoning it was perfect.
Perfect!
This dropped in to a Taurus 1911. also used Ed Brown "Hardcore" sear, disconnect, and strut. Slight improvement to an already fantastic stock trigger. Looks much better; got rid of the ugly Taurus hammer and lock. And that was the point.
Good value!
If your on a budget and want a quality part, this is it. If your looking for more, Id recommend a C&S or a Harrison Design. I rated this 4 stars because it IS a good value and Im not complaining about the end results, -1 for cosmetic and consistency. Thank you Brownells!
Good hammer
I just installed one of these. The hammer is of high quality materials and is finished very well. It is a good looking hammer as well. The hooks were square and cut to exactly .018". The only thing I didn't like about it was that the halfcock notch is NOT national match cut as it appears in the picture. The halfcock notch also sits rather high, so you will not be able to adjust for absolute minimum over-travel without modifying it.
Pretty good part
Excellent quality part. Aesthetically pleasing as well. Machined from bar stock and well finished. All edges are beveled right out of the box. For most users the trigger pull that can be attained with this hammer will be acceptable. For people that want a TRULY creep free trigger pull I would suggest the Wilson Combat Ultralight hammer. Be aware though that the Wilson will require some work to bevel all of the edges. To recap - The Ed Brown Hardcore hammer is a nicely finished part that will more than likely suit the needs of most shooters.
