High quality 1911 threaded barrel. Did take a bit of fitting in my Kimber Stainless TLE II, but was totally expected. Solidly locks up now. I expect it to be very accurate, though I haven’t been to the range yet; will update if there are any issues. Highly recommended!

Ed brown threaded barrel
The ed brown threaded Barrel in 45acp was easy to install, it took minor fitting with a small file and high grit sand paper to polish out file marks, you don’t have to be a gun smith to install this barrel. I took measurements off the stock barrel to get the treaded barrel close then used magic maker to see tight spots and rub points and slowly removed metal for a proper fit, link pin and barrel feet were perfect, Brownells shipping is top notch, you pay and they get it out the door,

Needed a 1911 barrel for a can and found this. Read instructions Ed Brown’s website and decided to give it a go. Test fitted it in various 1911s. Barrel hood too wide for Colts (can be narrowed). Barrel fit into other slides: a Springfield, NH, Kimber. Hood width/length was good and barrel lugs fit corresponding slide lugs. Picked a gun to fit the barrel too. Test fit barrel with slide and frame, slide would not go into battery by about 1/16”. Viewing through slide stop pin hole in frame, I saw the radius of the barrel feet impinged slide stop pin when slide in battery. *Per instructions*, used a narrow file to remove material in the barrel lug recesses, just a bit, even on both sides, test, repeat, until slide would go into battery. Took 20 minutes. Tested with live fire, works like it should! Very few 1911 parts are drop in, I am a 1911 armorer (not a smith) so I understand the platform a bit. Wasn’t hard to do but not for everyone’s skill level.

Excellent fit in old Colt Series 80
I was very impressed with the fit and finish of this barrel. Great bang for the buck, as it comes with the bushing, link, and link pin. Bushing is fit to the barrel, the link is installed, and the standing lugs are machined for proper fit to the slide stop. Minor fitting may be required for the hood and the bushing to your slide. My old Colt Series 80 is loose on most specs and this barrel dropped right in. The factory barrel had a lot of play when in full battery. This one is locked down solid. Very nice improvement. I DO NOT CONSIDER MINOR FITTING TO BE A CON.

I have bought 3 of these for customer guns and 1 for my own. When you buy this, understand that you can't just drop it in and go, it needs to be fitted. I had no issues with thread pitch or threading on a suppressor with a piston. Perhaps I lucked out, but I had no unforseen issues with installing these barrels or performance. And if the other gentleman really doesn't like his, I'll gladly take it off his hands.

The barrel will require fitting. Welcome to the world of the 1911. Just examine the barrel hood on a kimber vs colt. No such thing as a drop in 1911 barrel. In my case I was using an AAC ti-rant suppressor and a kimber classic custom. The threads of the ed brown and the threads of the piston were not completely compatible (tolerance stacking). This was almost a non issue because I emailed ed brown and sent them the barrel and piston they sent it back with recut threads in 2 days. Awesome customer service. The last thing to do was remove about 25 thousandths from the mouth of the piston any machine shop or gunsmith can do this. This all may seem like a lot of work, but in the end the barrel that is not only a tack driver it also doesn't look like a goofy add on with 3/4" of extra barrel. 1911s are not glocks. Not knocking glocks I have several with drop in threaded barrels. I am just saying 1911s are a different animal when it comes to custom kit.
Minor fitting does not apply
In the Q&A a customer was told minor fitting may be needed.
The Remington R1 departs from standard 1911 design.
The R1 has a different slide lock and magazines need a relief cut for the slide to operate.
It would take more than minor fitting for this barrel to fit and work.
I would suggest you eliminate the advice from your site and have one of your crackerjack gunsmiths do an evaluation before advising another customer with a R1.
