While some praised its quality, others highlighted significant surface flaws and poor extractor quality, suggesting alternatives like Brownells for better performance.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Product Quality
65%
While some reviewers noted decent overall quality in Ruger's parts for standard OEM receivers, significant complaints arose about surface flaws and overall craftsmanship in binding areas. Many users found these defects unacceptable compared to competitors like Brownells, which were highly praised for their superior quality.
Compatibility Issues
50%
One of the most frequently discussed issues is the compatibility of the Ruger bolt with different receiver brands. Several reviewers experienced binding and operational failures when using the Ruger parts in non-Ruger receivers, particularly Brownells, prompting them to recommend alternative options for those builds.
Value for Money
45%
Although some found the Ruger kit to be a reasonable choice for OEM builds, many reviewers concluded that investing in higher-quality options, like those from Brownells, provided better value. They felt that the Ruger kit's performance did not justify its price when superior alternatives were available.
Ease of Use
30%
Those who used the Ruger kit in proper applications reported no significant friction or issues, indicating that it works reliably in stock receivers. Proper installation techniques were also emphasized as critical for avoiding problems, suggesting that performance can vary based on user handling.
Shipping Experience
40%
Reviewers generally mentioned positive shipping experiences, highlighting fast delivery and the convenience of purchasing parts as a grouped kit. This aspect contributed positively to the overall satisfaction with the buying experience.

Fine Product
Product was as described and had no quality issues. Nothing remarkable to report besides it being a quality product.

Great Parts, Great Price!
Very convenient to have these parts grouped together under one stock number. Works well in Ruger OEM receivers, works equally well in the Brownell's BRN22 receivers, you need to make sure that the bolt is being installed squarely, and that the cocking handle is pulled completely to the stop.

Ruger Bolt
Works as a normal bolt should in a stock receiver. Feels a little different in a Brownells receiver. They are obviously made of different materials. Good overall stock Ruger quality.

Ruger "OEM" receiver bolt kit
I purchased the Ruger "OEM" bolt kit for my last 10/22 build using a BRN-22 receiver. I had considerable binding and resistance when I installed the bolt into the receiver. Would not cycle / function so I ordered one of the new Brownells bolt assy. and it fits and functions correctly. I will keep the Ruger bolt for my factory 10/22 as a back up in the event I break an extractor or firing pin while at the range. I don't have anything negative to say about the Ruger bolt because it works just fine in a Ruger receiver. The pins and bolt charging handle work as expected in the BRN-22 receiver.

Absolute Garbage
I am building four different 10/22 based custom guns from very high end to a great value SBR. I have used bolts and receivers from Kidd, Tactical Inc, Brownells, Ruger and one more that slips my mind. Never have I seen such poor quality as the Ruger. Ruger spent the time to mirror polish where their name is engraved but the surface on top where it rides in the receiver looks like an angry monkey took a grinding wheel to it. The overall quality looking at the contact areas is extremely poor. The extractor is the stock cheap one not a harder sharper version that comes in every other one on the market. If I installed it it would have damaged the receiver. If you want a quality value bolt buy the Brownells one. They are very well made.

Do not use in BRN-22
This product does not work in a BRN-22 receiver. It caused considerable binding when I put it in a BRN-22TD receiver with a Timney trigger pack. It was completely inoperable. I sent the receiver back to Brownells thinking that there was an issue with the inner diameter of the receiver. When Brownells brought out their new 10/22 bolt, I decided to give it a try. Brownells sent back my receiver to me and their bolt works fantastically. Turns out that my issue was with the Ruger OEM bolt. My advice is to skip this bolt and spend the extra money for the Brownells bolt, which is of much higher quality.
