Great Scope For Carry Handle Colt AR Style Rifles

Exact scope style that was available 50 years ago but with improved optics. Colt Logo on top of housing and 4x20 markings in white. Made by the original manufacturer in Japan. Scope looks and feels like a quality product. The adjustment dial covers are metal not plastic. The range adjustments "click" for different yardages from 100 to 500 yards. The windage and elevation adjustments are graduated but have no detectable clicking sensation. The mounting system is quick release with a spinning lock nut that holds the scope tight to the top of the handle. Scope is very clear and has an objective focus ring that has a locking outer ring to hold the adjustment. The cross hairs are duplex and a little heavier than I like for longer shooting ranges but are manageable. The scope does not come with caps. Looks super cool on my 1973 Colt AR-15. Group in photo was shot at 50 yards with 55 grain bullets.

Not a repro, but the real thing

When the same company makes the same scope it did almost 40 years ago, they’re just resuming production, but with improvements developed over those years. This *is* the ultra-rare Colt-marked 4x20 scope, the same as before. Except for the lack of lens caps, but nobody probably makes them any more, even in Japan. As an aside, the Butler Creek “05 EYE” flip cap fits perfectly. I’m still looking for a 35mm front cap. I included a picture of the scope, along with the rare “first model” of the 3x scope, so the sight differences in the tube near the eyepiece can be seen. The first scopes had roll-engraved markings filled with white paint, while later ones have the same style of silk-screening for both models. The original lens caps are below the scopes, just as a reference. Brownells has scored a major victory in getting the original optics company, and Colt, to resume production of this classic.
