OXPHO BLUE CREME
I tried Oxpho blue creme after 4 or so failed attempts with a liquid gun blue at re-blueing a barrel for a .22. The oxpho blue creme, when used on properly prepared metal gives a dark streak free finish. When using this product be sure to completely clean and degrease the metal using a strong degreaser like denatured alcohol. overall I was releived when the barrel finally came out how I had wanted after weeks of failed attempts.
Works Very Well
I bought a jar of this to treat a bolt handle and a trigger guard. The bolt handle had about 90% of the finish worn off and had developed some rust. The the trigger guard was just steel in the white. I sanded the metal with 400 grit and cleaned with alcohol. Then, I just followed the directions on the jar. It took about 4 coats on each part to get the color I wanted but it came out good. It's not quite as nice as a hot blue job but it's pretty darn close. For small projects it's a really good product.
Use it and trust it!
Take the time to set up your firearm, i.e. stripping and polishing. This will give a very nice blue black finish to a stripped part or complete firearm. Some metals take time to color correctly to match, have patience, it will happen.
Something you should always have on hand
This great product is the sort of thing you should always have bottle of for touch ups and rust prevention. Perfect for screws, pins and other small parts. Much better and easier to use than liquid cold blues. I usually apply it by rubbing it in with small chunk of fine steel wool. I find it much easier to color match by doing it this way, plus it seems to get a deeper color.
easy to use, definitely recommended
This product is very easy to ease and is highly recommended. Much better than liquid cold blue I've used in the past. Goes on nice with very little to no mess. Nice appearance and takes very little to get job done. I would imagine you could do an entire rifle/ shotgun barrel with 4 ounces. I could be wrong, but I put several coats on a pistol slide and still have app. 3/4 bottle left.
Oxpho Blue Creme
Just rub it on no hassle! So easy to use just wipe off , no other cleaning. Just great stuff
Not what I expected
Used OXPHO BLUE CREME for touch up after cutting a fullsize 1911 down to a Bobtail frame, it looks good for a while but does not hold up. The grip area that I touched up is a high use spot. The good thing is it's easy to use and looks good. OXPHO BLUE CREME may hold up better in area's that are not handled as much as the grip area on this project I used it on.
Don't waste your money
The creme works about 50% as well as the liquid. Yes it doesn't run all over, but in the end it just doesn't blue the metal. And you can't return it if you don't like it.
