Best cold blue
I've been using this cold blue for years. The paste stays where you put it which helps you get the results you want. Blends into existing blue to give a color that usually duplicates the original. I do however have to leave it on longer than they recommend. Also, heating the area with hot water or a hair dryer often help with harder steels. Gives a long-lasting finish. A negative is that, if not washed off when done, it does rust the new finish. Very happy with Oxpho-Blue Paste!
I will tell a thousand people to use it
I spoiled the genuine blue of my Webley and Scott barrel by mistake after applying a rust removing spray by mistake and then tried all the cold blues available but neither streaking went away nor the colour was permanent.I spoiled my hands and gloves on all outings with a lot of embarrassment.I was desperate till I read all the reviews on OXPHO Blue, reviving my hope to get it right. I requested a friend to buy and bring it for me from US and was so sweetly surprised to see the result of OXPHO cream formula that that I really blinked my eyes a number of times to believe that it was so well done.Of course I had cleaned the whole barrel with #3000 sand paper to a total shine of steel and then applied. I must tell a thousand friends that nothing compares with OXPHO Blue. Its really a great product.I am so glad to have used it.
Easy, expert finish the first time.
Nicest color I have obtained from anything short of hot bluing.
This stuff works.
Made my first re-blue job look like it was done by a pro!
Great Product
I bought this product after searching for a way to touch up the bluing on my Beretta 92FS barrel. The original bluing under the slide was gone. (I'm not sure why that spot was turning, but it was not rubbing anything on the slide.) I have never blued a gun before. The instructions were simple. I cleaned my barrel and followed the directions. Within a matter of minutes the spots were gone. I ended up bluing the barrel several times to get it dark enough. Even where I got the Oxpho Blue Creame on the original bluing, the color did not change. Now for the bad news. Due to the loss of original bluing there is now a spot that when the light hits it just right where it looks shiny. The spot is nearly black, but the texture is smoother. This product is great. It is going to be a great addition to my cleaning and maintenance kit for my pistol. If you are looking for something to touch up or reblue your barrel, this is the one.
EXCELLENT STUFF!
I received a new cylinder base pin for my Uberti Cattleman revolver, and it came in the white. I tried the Birchwood Casey Perma Blue, and after 5 applications, all I had was a dull gray, and even that was blotchy. It would come out blue, but when I would wipe the part down, most of the blue came off leaving a dull gray. I ordered some of this Brownells Oxpho Blue Creme, and after ony two applications I had a gorgeous ultra-deep blue (actually black to the eye), that was even, and that does not wipe off. I am a happy camper. I recommend this product to one and all!
Great Stuff
This is perfect when you need a little touch up on a firearm. It allows you to adjust how deep of color you want your touch up to be. Very handy to have around.
Best I have used.
I used this product for the first time last week, after getting only mediocre results from a competitors more expensive and well known product. Oxpho Blue is the absolute BEST! Simple, fast, and a perfect deep blue finish! Cant go wrong with this one guys!
good stuff
i bought a 4 oz. bottle to try. i have now completed 3 total reblues and still have some left. i just finished a new barrel job on my custom mauser. it worked great, got a deep blue/black finish. as long as you do the prep work, warm the metal, and clean between coats this stuff is great. it doers not fill sratches or hide file marks which makes the prep work a key element to success.
Amazing. Bluest finish possible...
There are a few tricks that you can use with this, to get an absolutely amazing finish. Heat the metal with a space heater between coats. Always use a fresh 2x2" cloth to apply (fresh + Oxpho adds to the finish, whereas used cloth + Oxpho seems to take away the finish). Patience--it will darken. Biggest hint for a blue finish: between coats, rub with clean cloth with BreakFree CLP oil--it is the oil that allows the color to come through--this sounds strange, but it is key. It will happen right before your eyes when you add the CLP. Alternatively, using Eezox instead will strip the blue and turn the metal a dark charcoal instead. I think Hoppe's solvent will turn it even darker yet. Pretty cool to have this choice. Bottom line: this stuff gave me the bluest-black finish I have ever seen in person. My beat-down CZ82 now is a glossy blue-black that is almost too pretty to shoot. Amazing.
