Hands down the best
I've been using this stuff since the early 1980s and finally used up my last drop. I've used it on nearly every kind of firearm to touch up small scratches and to even re-blue sights that get 'shiny'.
Best I have used for quick & easy jobs
Not as good as expensive hot blue job but reasonably attractive finish. I used OXPHO on a 50 year old J.C. Higgins M50 - FN Mauser - to blue the bolt handle and extractor and was pleased with the results. Much patient rubbing on hair dryer warmed steel then 000 steel wool. Happy!
Satisfied Home Machine Shop User
I use this product to color a number of home machine shop tooling items such as tool holders, slotting saw arbors, punches, etc. Results are usually very good, especially when lightly oiled, and depending upon metal prep and cleanliness. Occasionally will produce a slightly inconsistent finish but can be re-done to a more solid black as needed. My blackened items never see daylight so couldn't comment on longevity of the finish in the field. This product seems to be subject to stocking issues so get it when you can.
32 oz
As advertised-excellent, ease of use
OXPHO-BLUE---GREAT FOR ME!!!!
First time using this product, second 1911 build. Used this to cold blue a 1911 Carbon Steel slide, wanted a economical way to protect slide rather than send out to have done. Read reviews and seem like a good way to go. Decided to get 32oz size of product and dip whole stripped slide in small container for purpose, worked GREAT for me, cleaned slide in Acetone to remove residual oil, dipped slide in Oxpho liquid for about 15 seconds, removed and rinsed with hot water to clean, make sure to clean thoroughly, redipped in Acetone and then Oxpho liquid 4 more times using same procedure. Oiled with gun oil and let set for a couple of hours then wiped with soft rag to clean. I am very happy with result, will definitely use in the future.
The Perfect Cold Blue
Just refinished old military rifle with this bluing, turned out very black after bead blasting. I just poured it over all parts and watched them turn very dark, wiped them down and added a coat of oil...looks great. FYI: you can reclaim used bluing in separate container for later use.
PERFECTION!
Simply follow the directions for application and your projects will turn out great!
Good stuff
Been using this for years, blacks out aluminum real well.
Good stuff
Been using the small bottles for years, finally bought a 32 oz'er. Works great on small parts if you dip them in all in at once, I used to brush it on to do a bolt action and sometimes it would get a little blotchy so now I just dip the whole action in a pan of it, slosh it around a little bit and it comes out perfectly covered, looks like a pro job. Parts have to be absolutely spotless of any oil though.
Best cold blue made
great wear resistance ,can be used over lubricated parts, a single bottle lasts a long time
