SINCLAIR PRIMING TOOL

SINCLAIR PRIMING TOOL Reviews & Ratings

Sinclair International Stainless Priming Tool - Defining Excellence in Hand Priming

For precision reloaders dedicated to consistency and safety, the act of seating a primer should feel meticulous-not rushed. The Sinclair International Stainless Priming Tool sets a new standard for manual priming by offering unmatched feel, alignment, and reliability-built to outlast clicking basics and become an heirloom mainstay at your bench.

Crafted for Accuracy and Durability

Every component reflects Sinclair’s dedication to lifetime usability. The main body, head, and punch housings are precision-machined from stainless steel for corrosion resistance and unwavering dimensional stability. The handle, carved from aircraft-grade aluminum, provides feather-light control without flex or fatigue. Hardened stainless pins and push rod maintain their shape and function even through thousands of loading cycles.

These materials-and the absence of any plastic parts-ensure that, rather than needing replacement, this priming tool will likely outlast most reloaders.

Engineered for Precision Priming

Seating primers properly is more than just pushing a primer in; it’s about alignment and subtle pressure control. The Sinclair tool locks your case head perfectly square to the seating punch, preserving concentricity. The refined lever action gives predictable, tactile feedback, allowing the reloader to feel when the primer is centered and fully seated-or when pressure becomes excessive.

This level of control guides you toward “just seated, never crushed,” a critical detail for standardized ignition, powder burn consistency, and long-term chamber health.

Versatile for Large and Small Primers

This tool arrives ready to handle small- and large-primed cartridges-by default it includes housing for both types of primers. With existing Sinclair Priming Tool shell holders or Lee Universal Auto-Prime adapters, you can quickly switch calibers without changing the tool. The design handles everything from 9mm primers to large magnum rifle primers equally well.

Real Handloader Feedback

Across reloading communities, users often describe it as the best hand primer ever made. One experienced buyer commented that after switching to this model, they could immediately feel primer seating consistently-crucial when working with low powder charges or match ammo.

Reloaders focused on precision report that seating depth variation decreased to within .001 inches-thanks to the controlled feel and alignment the tool provides. For many, it replaced cranked turret presses for priming tasks, improving hand fatigue and giving more consistent ammunition prep.

Standing Tall Among Competitors

Compared to more economic or plastic-based tools, the Sinclair Stainless tool:

  • Feels sturdier, with no flexing or wobble during primer seating.
  • Provides a smooth, controlled lever action rather than jerky “push-if-you-dare” priming force.
  • Maintains alignment even with old brass, thanks to case locking and rigid stem.
  • Lasts a lifetime without warping or plastic wear, making it a true benchkeeper tool.

When weighed against RCBS bench primers and budget hand stools, Sinclair offers a tactile advantage that translates into better priming consistency and enhanced ammo quality.

Integrated into Reloading Workflow

  1. Select proper shellholder and primer type. Install into tool head.
  2. Lock the case square by threading it down until it aligns cleanly with the punch.
  3. Cinch lever into position, then slowly close it to seat the primer.
  4. Feel the transition-when seating becomes heavier, that indicates full seating without over-pressure.
  5. Verify consistency by repeating steps for a batch-variation should stay within 0.001–0.002".

With few moving parts and minimal adjustment, this tool maintains smooth operation over time and reveals primer issues early in your loading process for efficient troubleshooting.

You get what you pay for
This thing is the handiest device to come along since they started putting latches on toilet doors! Since the first time I tried this, I haven't used my RCBS bench mounted priming tool at all. The mechanical advantage is perfect, the feel is completely accurate. I would recommend having a seperate head already set up with shellholder for the calibers you use a lot.

Super
High quality, good feel, will last forever.

How priming should be
I purchased this priming tool after using the other "big" companies brands. This tool has a much better fit & finish (built like a precision tank). The sense of feel when seating primers is fantastic, no more worries about crushed, belmished primers due to the seating rod not fitting the primer correctly. I liked this priming tool so much I bought a second tool & set one up for large primers, the other for small. If you're priming up hundreds of cases for "blasting" ammo, this tool may not be for you, it is slower to operate because you need to handle the primers individually. On the other hand, if you are loading up meticulously prepaired precision rounds, I don't think you'll find a better priming tool. I'm very pleased with mine.

Perfect for my 338 Lapua Mag reloads
Until I got my primer tool, I had problems with seating my 338 Lapua Mag primers with any consistency. Most were not completely seated. The tool eliminated that problem and now all primers are seated correctly to the exact same depth. I had 200 cases that were primed with a progressive loader that were not seated correctly. I used to the tool to reseat all of the primers iand now they are all set to factory specs. The only thing that bothers me is having to place each primer by hand.

The only primer tool(s) I use
I purchased the first one to use with military .223 Rem. cases because it holds the case and primer squarely in line with each other. I liked it so much that I purchased 2 more so I could have one permanently set up for each of the three head sizes that I load.

Works, if you read the directions
Being a guy, I tried jumping in before reading the directions. Once I did, I learned to use the included shims, and how to lock in the shell-holder with the set screws. Incredibly fine touch. I use it for the 600-yard-line loads for the HP Rifle across-the-course loads.

Great product
I use this priming tool to prime several different calibers, and have been extremely happy with it. After my last hand priming tool quit working, I finally broke down and spent the money for the Sinclair and after using it I have to say it was worth every penny. The quality of construction is way above any other priming tool I have used, and the level of feel as the primer is seated has to be felt to be appreciated. I used the Sinclair shell holders and they worked flawlessly. I would recomend this tool to anyone who wants to use one of the best priming tools made.

Great tool!
Love this tool! It works fantastic. It is not case rim thickness dependent which provides consistent depth. I highly recommend the Sinclair shell holders for use in this tool.

Priming Tool
A beautifully made tool that is very consistent with great "feel." That's the good news, the bad, adjusting primer depth is insanely difficult and inaccurate, prepare to be quite annoyed with this!

Good but I expected better
Works fine, materials are obviously high quality. But when I first tried to use it there were burrs on the set screw holes and I couldn’t get the shell holders all the way into the head. I finally had to pound them on the bench to get them to seat properly. A tool this expensive should not be so. Also it is a bit cryptic at first until you get the feel for it. There is no set position for the head and so how far you tighten the head onto the shell dictated seating depth and force. It took me a lot of tinkering around to get the head set where I wanted it. And the instructions for setting the head are less than clear. After messing with it for close to an hour I finally got it set where it works great. Overall it performs awesome, but was painful for me to get to that point. For as much as I spent on the tool and shell holders I expected a better, easier to use tool. I had bought this one to replace a plastic priming tool that I broke after 3 years of use. I expect this one from Sinclair to last the rest of my life.
