Absolute best stuff
Best stuff available. I just re-blued the receiver on an old Savage 99 and couldnt be happier. Buffed well with 0000, acetone, heat, and Oxpho for 10 minutes. Heated metal well (not to point of vaporizing Oxpho) and the results were immediate. Did that 6 times and its now a deep, rich blue. Economical but dont be afraid to use liberally, easy to see where applied, super happy with this stuff.
1st Time user
It was my 1st time using this product and I was surprised by the versatility of this product. I blued 2 Iver Johnson Arms .22 pistols and the results were different, but unique. One is gun metal finish and the other is black, blue, and purple. I noticed that the hotter the parts were, the darker the reaction. I have more learning to do.
BEAUTIFUL FINISH
Used this right after the EXPRESS BROWN #2. Took some time but having patience yields great results. Used it on an old .22 that I refinished for one of my grandsons. Came out great.
A collectors dream product
Best product I found since collecting firearms for past 20+ years. Since trying this product on a rifle and three hand guns, I'm convinced its the best I have used so far. Ease of application-control, and finishing process cannot be beat. I believe creme consistency could be little more thinner. Question: Can T4 and Xho Blue be mixed?
best in the west
very good the gel is better it is easier to apply uniformly. it is like anything else follow the recommendations and you will get good results. i used this on an octagon 45 cal barrel in the white. about 3 more applications and the results will be what i am looking for. anyway take your time and use a little patience. otherwise you will wind up with a ship high in transit job. granted it is not like a hot blue, but for folks like me that don't have thousands of dollars it is pretty darned good.
matches most guns
some times it's hard to get a good match with old bluing this makes it easy
Best available.
Goes over any metal. Cures and protect. Not so ugly to watch. Creme doesn't spill around. What else?
OXPHO-BLUE
I just did a complete rebuild of my fathers 1920's 20 Ga double shotgun. After disassembly and refinishing of the stock and forearm, I did the reblue and applied six coats of blueing. I started by stripping the old gun of blue, rust and pitting. Using as a start 240 grit wet/dry sand paper and gradually finishing with 460 grit followed by 00 steel wool, I applied the OXPRO-BLUE. The 4 oz bottle was more than enough. I can't ay enough about this product. So great I think I will now redo my Grandfathers 12Ga Ithaca. Thank for a great product
Awesome!
This is absolutely the best bluing that I have ever used. I re-blued my whole Remington Model 11 12 gauge. Extremely pleased with the results. Easy to use, just follow the instructions. Buff with fine steel wool, heat the parts slightly (not hot), apply the Oxpho-Blue, let it set for about 60 seconds and wipe off with a clean cloth. Then buff with very fine steel wool and apply your favorite gun oil.
Quick bluing
I recently purchased several older shotguns. They were in need of TLC. I cleaned up the guns and decided to re blue some of the faded and rusty barrels to stop the rust. I found Oxpho-Blue online and decided to give it a try after reading some of the reviews. It works just as easy as the directions say. I cleaned the metal with alcohol and then lightly sanded with fine grain sand paper. I then wiped the metal with alcohol and began wiping on the Oxpho-Blue per the directions. I found that I needed to use three bluing cycles to achieve the desired finish on one of the guns. Two applications on the other gun were enough. I plan to go back another day and put darker finishes on the barrels but I an satisfied that they won't rust anymore in the mean time. I finished up by spraying the guns with Rem Oil.
