Awesome coating for many projets
I have applied this to everything from Aluminum, to plastics, to synthetic stocks. It holds up well, is easy to apply, and the colors are great. Get extra nozzles if you don't use it up in one session.
Tough stuff
Finished a Remington 700 5R MilSpec in OD and it looks great. Extremely Durable Finish. Follow the directions and watch the Brownells Video and your gun will look great. Patience is definately what makes a decent looking finish look great with this product.
Great Product
I stripped down a 20+ year old remington shotgun that someone didn't take good care of and now the gun looks amazing. Just follow the directions and anybody can do it.
Exc. coating for metal, fiber or wood
I recently painted all metal parts of a Hi-Point 995 carbine including compensator, barrell shroud which is alum. and a complete Marlin 22 rifle including wood stock with 1 can. On the wood stock I sanded & primed before applying AlumaHyde II. All metal parts were cleaned with TCE, rough spots with steel wool & sandpaper then cleaned again & allowed to dry. This coating is very easy to apply using thin multiple coats. It covers very well & I had no problems with runs. After drying for 7 days all parts appeared to be a factory finish. I have not used guns long enough to comment on durability of finish however it appears to be tuff.
A great paint for all guns & camouflage!
I custom coat and camouflage weapons of all types, Assualt Rifles, hunting rifles, Pistols, Shotguns etc. and the Aluma-Hyde II is the best product that I have came across. I've been doing this for along time and the durablity and the ease of this coating is out of this would. It's so simple to apply and is as strong as any other that I've used. DO NOT PASS THIS UP!!!
Good until you get loctite on it
Generally been my go to to save time and money in cerakote however the one compound I have found to compromise it was blue loctite. As such I try to keep it away from any threadlocker type of stuff but otherwise a hot summer day cure in a car and the stuff is plenty tough

Paint
Good but not very thick paint. Had to put a number of coats to not chip.

Aluma hyde
Easy to apply, durable.
Color slightly off
I love the Aluma Hyde products and I’ve used them frequently with great success. This is my first time using the flat black and even though I followed Caleb‘s advice and shook it for about 15 minutes. It’s still turns out kind of shiny not flat.

DIY friendly
I gave this stuff a try to attempt a camo pattern on my rifle. I ended up picking up a can of desert sand/tan, Magpul FDE, and earth brown. I started with desert tan and baked the first layer. The finish came out super smooth. I then laid my stencils and sprayed the earth brown and baked as well. I finished my last layer with Magpul FDE. I wish I did some sort of test sprays before to see how the finished came out. The Magpul FDE and earth brown are basically the same color. The earth brown might be a shade darker at most but it looks the same as Magpul FDE with more sheen. I am disappointed I spent several days really taking my time to get this to come out almost perfect just for the colors to basically match. Th finish is smooth and tough but I might try stripping this and going a different route.
