I Got a Little Different Packge
You can't tell from the description, but what I received was a package containing four metal punch holders and four screw in tips. Three brass tips, one nylon tip and what looks looks like a reinforcing pin.
Weak but affective non-the-less.
We use the nylon punch to remove brass facings from parts. Without the reinforcing pin it breaks after about the 10th hit. The pin adds strength, but will scratch when the nylon cover breaks. We'll usually get another 5-8 hits with the pin installed. We are applying a lot of force on these. I'm sure with less force, they'll last longer.
Nylon /Brass Drift Punch
This Punch set was very disappointing. The Brass tips did not screw on to the handles smoothly. Had to send it back for a replacement and even though it was checked out prior to shipping the new set back one of the tips was still difficult to screw on. Both Nylon punch were difficult to screw on and the small pins that came with them did not fit the holes in the nylon tips. Wouldn"t buy it again or recommend it.
One time use!
As a gunsmith, I use my tools all the time, and I give honest reviews so people can make an informed decision before purchasing. I purchased this set because it looked well made and versatile because of the interchangeable tips. I received my set and was dissapointed. The metal holders were covered in small metal shavings and metal dust, and the knurling was extremely course and I had to wear leather gloves to hold them. I cleaned up the metal holders and inserted the tips, which went in hard because of the pore threads. I had four sight replacements on 4 semi auto pistols and destroyed all of the tips I used except for the aluminum tips because I didn't use them. The brass that is used is way too weak and the plastic or duralin, or what ever was used for the plastic tips was also very soft.
Poor fit and finish
Started a return immediately after receiving the punches. Some of the punch heads would not thread into the bodies, and one of the six bodies didn't even have female threads to received a punch head.
