Good substitute for large rifle magnum
I resorted to these when the primer shortage started in 2020. My research indicted these are essentially large rifle magnum but with a thicker cup to prevent slam fires. I found I could substitute for normal LR but needed to lower the powder charge 0.4 grains to get the same accuracy. Now I have load recipes for CC#34 or WLR/fed I can recommend with caveats mentioned above I will but again
Good Product
Found you must swage once fired military brass to remove crimp before primers will insert without crushing them. Once done, they fit & function reliably. Grateful to get primers these days & Brownell's is good for allowing 2-1000 boxes w/one purchase to save HazMat fees on shipments (unlike another on-line seller only let's you buy one box every 7 days-when in-stock). I've found the military primers work just as well & probably would never have bought them if not for current 'beggers-can't-be-choosers' market these days - but glad I did. All consistent appearance, no defects, packaged in small container easily stored. Well satisfied.

I use these primers exclusively for my M1 Garand and lever action rifle loading. Never a misfire.
One of my favorites
I get the best velocity and SD numbers with this primer coupled with H4895. I have fired all types of primers in semi autos. Never had a slam fire before. Therefor i can't say they are tougher than another. Though i like the actual/perceived additional primer strength as i sometimes chamber/extract a round several times while coming up empty handed predator hunting. But the on paper, on Coyote and over chronograph performance speaks for itself.

CCI Mil Spec primers
I use these for all my loads that require a large rifle primer - I feel more comfortable having the slightly heavier primer cup - less worries about a blowing a primer -- Brownells allowing 2 boxes cushions the hit on the Hazmat and shipping fees most other vendors limit you to 1 box if you can even get that.

Caused missfjres
I've purchased my last CCI primers, at least as long as I have alternatives. I purchased these #34 primers in 2012 for my M1 Garand and had some misfires with them, I also used them in other rifles "both mine and others" and missfires were at least 1 in 20. With the embarrassment this caused on the range I decided to tear apart these missfired primers to try and find the cause. What I found was that in each primer that missfired, the compound was like putty, not a hard material which should turn to powder when broken up with a sharp scribe and ignite with an open flame. No this compound would not even ignite by an open flame. These primers were stored under the best of conditions and CCI did not take my complaints seriously! I've been loading for 50+ years, I shoot competitively, and know more than a little about what I'm doing!
