Perfect fit for 8mm Mauser
Very snug fit, as it should be. Worked perfectly.
This is the one for Mosin Nagant 91/30
Excellent product.
Good product after you modify it to fit
Delivered oversize for S&W 45 ACP chambers. I called customer service, and they advised I could (1) hire a local machinist to turn it down or (2) I could make it fit myself or (3) I could return it and they would give me my money back. I chose option 2. It worked.
Would you recommend this?
Yes, I would recommend to a friend
Too small for most common 22lr bores
I'm sure the pilot is good quality and works well when matching the bore. Purchased this one because the q/a answer directly from Brownells stated that the 213 is the correct one for most bores. This was too small for a Henry H001, too small for a 10/22, and too small for a CZ 457. Had to get the 215, which fit much more closely.
Check your revision!
Good pilot for chamfering the charge holes, but check your gun revision! Based on a couple 45 Smith's I have, this looks like it works on the earlier .45s. Wouldn't seat all the way in my -6, -7, or -8. Fit great in a 1917 and dropped right in on a -3 cylinder. My guess (with only the observations above) is this will work on your gun if your firing pin is on the hammer. If your pin is in the frame, get ready for a little sanding. Brownell's, can we get one for newer guns?
NOT the one for my 91/30
A previous reviewer stated this is the one for the Mosin 91/30 so I bought it. It arrived with rifling marks pressed approx 1/32" into the end of it. Possibly someone purchased it for a Mosin 91/30 and attempted to force fit it. It is NOT for the Mosin. It fit in one of my M44's and my Type 53 but would not turn in either and would not fit my other M44 or 91/30 at all. I inserted it into my .303 Enfield and it feels a little loose. My dial calipers show the bore guide to be .301". I think it should be a bit larger in diameter for use in the 303 and am considering returning it or sanding it down to fit the Mosins.
45 ACP-1 cylinder brass pilot
Ordered this to chamfer my 625PC 45ACP chamber openings/charge holes. The Q&A for the 45ACP-2 says the 45ACP-1 is the correct one for S&W 25/625. However, it does not fully fit in either my 625PC, or 325NG, cylinder openings to allow the 45 degree, 5/8" chamfer cutter to contact the cylinder. The pilot has two guide surfaces that measure: .4475" (throat) & .4775" (chamber). The throat end is fine. The chamber end is too large. My chambers measure .474" and .475" at the case ledge (where the case mouth headspaces on) and the pilot needs to be able to contact it to allow enough depth for the chamfer tool to make contact. Be aware it will have to be polished to a slightly smaller diameter to work in a S&W 625 45ACP chamber.
38-40 Pilot
Pilot measures 0.390" not 0.380" as advertised. Does not fit my bore. Worth zero stars but form required I select one star minimum.
Oversized ~ will not fit
The diameter was not published so I phoned and asked. Was told it was 0.2163 which would fit my barrel as measured with a pin gauge. The actual unit was 0.218 which will not fit. Now I have a useless tool that requires I machine it to fit. Would have been easier to just make one.
8mm brass pilot dose not fit
Too large to fit in muzzle of 8mm I have tried it in three 8x57 mausers and it dose not go in any of them.. I am going to turn it down so it will fit because it is too much of a pain to send back, but beware if you buy this it will not fit.
