O.D. Green ALUMA-HYDE~ II
It was easy to apply a nice even coat. After letting the paint dry for fourteen days the finish seems very durable. Be careful using Loctite as it will damage the finish by removing the paint.
Brownells Magpul FDE Paint
It was easy to apply an even coat of paint from the can. I let the paint dry for fourteen days and the finish seems very durable. Liquid Loctite will move the paint so be careful. The FDE matched my MAGPUL furniture perfectly.
Great paint and very durable.
I have used this paint on a shot gun a few years back. The gun stays in a corner and gets banged around. The paint is still holding up well. It wears like iron. I just purchase another can and the only bad thing is the price. The paint was 12.99 and 9.99 shipping. That's pricey for paint. One thing you need to remember when you use it. You need to clear the nozzle by turning the can up side down and spraying until clear gas comes out. I guess I forgot to do that on my last can and it still had more then 3/4 of a can that can't be used.
Easy to use, great value
Ive used Aluma-Hyde products for several years. They are easy to use and provide a very affordable solution compared to competitive products. Ive never been disappointed.
Works Great!
Used it to finish a barrel on a Kentucky Black Powder rifle project. Have NEVER had any luck with chemical finishes! Always streaked and uneven end product! Too much work for too little good results! Have used this to refinish surplus Russian firearms. End result is excellent! Good Product!
Great product
Have used this for years, will and does stand up to most normal use. I've never had a problem myself.
Amazing product!
People need to learn how to read the instructions. I used this on bare aluminum and it turned out amazing! I shook the can for 2 minutes, then shook it again! It is a thick powder like spray, goes on smooth, I thought I made a run, but with the curing it flattened out! :) For prep, I scrubbed with Eagle 1 mag wheel cleaner that etches, worked great. Let air dry for 2 hours in garage that was 100* Sprayed at night, 1 coat, then a second 30 minutes later. Let air dry over night and popped them in the oven in the morning for 3 hours at 200* Pics attached of stock and grip that were raw aluminum. Great results!
Perfect color match to BCM Wolf Gray
SBA3 in "stealth gray", BCM Gunfighter pistol grip and trigger guard in Wolf Gray, upper, lower and handguard painted with Wolf Gray Alumahyde II. About as perfect a color match as you can get between plastic and metal. Started with black anodized parts, scuffed them with Scotchbrite, cleaned heck out of them with brake cleaner, hung them, painted them with 4 coats each, left them hanging in a hot Florida steel shed for two weeks, they're cured nicely now.
Fast low-cost refresh
I used this to do a refresh of an old Universal M1 carbine. After 4 coats I cured it in the barbecue. Came out with what seems to be a tough even finish. The dark gray park color complements the rifle very nicely, that gray color having a slight tint of green. Definitely looks better and more authentic than anything that ever left the Universal factory. AH2 does like to clog the nozzle; having extras on hand is a good plan.
Amazing results, very impressed.
I did a lot of research before attempting this camouflage paint pattern. It was very easy. I did it in my garage with a makeshift paint booth. Here are the steps I took. 1. Degrease with brake cleaner 2. Red scotch bright pads to scruff the surface 3. Lightly sand with 320 grit sand paper 4. Rinse with water 5. Heat in oven to remove water and bring remaining oils if there are any. 6. Wipe down with IPA 7. Heat in oven to get parts warm 8. Paint. I sprayed about 12-15 inches from the part. 9. Bake in oven at 195F for 4 hours 10. Most important step for a great finish. I used steel wool grade 0000(after full cure). This helped blend the two colors together and to get rid of any ridges from the paint and stencils. If I didnt not do this step I think I would not like the texture. The texture was rough before this. Also, make sure to buy extra tips. It helps. The colors I used are OD green and Matte black.
