What is the MESA TACTICAL PRODUCTS, INC. - Remington 870 Sureshell Carrier & Rail?

Mesa Tactical Sureshell Shell Carrier and 20” Rail for the Remington 870. These Shell Carriers & Rails hold 6 12 gauge shotgun shells and can accommodate a wide variety of optics. With the 20” rail length, iron sights traditionally used on an AR-15 can be used. The user can also mount optics with varying degrees of eye relief anywhere on the Picatinny rail. With such a generous amount of rail space, sling mounts and lights can be mounted as well. The Sureshell Carrier and Rails are constructed of aluminum with a matte black finish.

The Remington 870 model is compatible with factory magazine extensions and is required on most models.

Zombie Apocalypse Ready...
One year of heavy abuse thus far, no failures. Simple installation and rugged design, I get 3 MOA with most slugs. What else can I say, it is built for the tactical enthusiast in mind and keeps kicking after taking a beating. The Sureshell carrier has kept all rounds in place, upside down or right side up, haven't dropped a round yet. The full length rail is great for mounting irons or optics, and has a built in heat shield. A heat shield is highly valuable for individuals who do high volume shooting, and in the tactical sense, would you remove the forend of an M4 and take it out to battle? Suggestion 1: There is one issue I have witnessed but have not experienced myself. The threaded receiver pin (two screws thread into it to lock the carrier against the receiver) has been known to get stuck attempting to disassemble the unit from the firearm. Only one of the two screws loosens and is removable in this instance. I discovered a solution to this issue, by creating a serration 1/16" deep length wise on either side of the threaded stainless steel receiver pin, I can use a small flat head screw driver to lock the pin in place if one of the screws gets stuck. Suggestion 2: I highly recommend locktite blue on all hardware once everything has been installed and verified. A wise move for nearly all components on a shotgun that can vibrate loose.

Great product but be careful
It is an absolutly awesome product. If you wanna run battle sites on your shotgun for more accuracy with slugs a longer distances? Then this product is a must. Be warned, the clamp that mounts toward the front of the gun comes with bolts in it. when I removed these it seemed like one bolt was much bigger than the other three. Turns out that instead of just threading the holes in the clamp some one at Mesa thought it would be a good idea to make sleeves that thread into the clamp and then have the bolts thread into the sleeve. Well when I removed the one bolt, the sleeve came with it. Then when I removed the sleeve from the bolt, I deformed it and it wouldn't thread back in. After a while of trying to reform the sleeve with a vice I figured out if I thread the bolt back in, it would make the sleeve the correct shape again, but then I'm back where I was, with the sleeve still attached to the bolt and it wouldn't fit in the hole on the rail to thread into the clamp. Luckily when I threaded the sleeve and bolt back into the clamp, when I loosened it the bolt came out and the sleeve stayed in the clamp. So, if this happens to you, good luck trying to get the sleeve back in. If the sleeve had not come out then the install would have been a breeze.

Great to buy!
This rail is awesome and fits my 870 with a factory 6+1 then I added a +1 round extension. Great tactical look with built in heat shield. It will raise you line of sight on top of any optics you might add. Dont mount this rail if you have any pre existing rails/sights/ or ghost rings already on your gun. Lightweight aluminum. Makes cleaning or oiling your gun in those spots blocked by the rail tricky without an aerosol cleaner/ lube.

Will not fit with certain Magazine tubes
First the good, It went right on my 870, and was rugged, solid, and super cool/tactical looking. The bad part was when i got to the very end of installation the barrel/magazine tube clamp would not fit my +5 shot Nordic components mag extension! The remedies are 1.Change my extension (It fit my tacstar +2 shot extension), or 2.Return it and get the shorter version with no barrel clamp mount in the front. I went with the second option, after realizing that I probably don't need 24' of rail on my shotgun. The fixes for the manufacturer would be... 1.Put the forward mount behind where the barrel fits over the factory magazine. Or 2.Ship it with a lower profile barrel only clamp mount that doesn't interfere with after market magazine extensions, because they often times have different diameters.
