Initially, it is a very tight fit, but with a soft mallet, you can tap it into place just right. It holds rigid and is more than adequate for the Ruger 22.

Ruger MarkI w/ Holosun 407C
This mount worked perfect on an older Ruger MarkI. I used the Holosun 407C with this RMR mount. The Holosun C is the RMR mount where as the 407K is for the smaller Romeo Zero pattern (not sure of the name). I was able to mount the red dot, and sight in at 30yds. This setup made a huge difference in accuracy over the irons especially with older eyes. The only issue I see is if you want a dead-on-hold to cover a range of specific yardages the height over the bore axis makes this a little difficult. I am very pleased and would buy this mount again.
Tight Fit. Centering in dovetail is challenging
I like EGW Products, and I have several of their rails on bolt action rifles. In this case, Installing the sight base in the Ruger Dovetail was straightforward enough. Getting the Holosun on the mount wasn’t simple. It’s tight. The instructions recommend pacing a sheet of paper between the Optic and the mount; this to reduce difficulty in removing the optic when the time comes. I didn’t do that, and I had no problems removing it. Centering the EGW Mount in the Ruger’s dovetail was challenging. My initial Zeroing required excessive windage adjustment, and it felt really weird, It was as if my hands had to be canted in order to find the dot with my eye. I reset the mount in the dovetail several times, and made a series of small witness line on my pistol (using a #2 pencil). I finally got it shooting okay, but the setup just doesn’t feel right to me. I ultimately changed mounts to one that sits over the ejection port, and is infrequently in-stock.
