You can hang off your gun by it!
Good First Impression
I received this item today and mounted it to the single rail that is on top of the gas block on my DPMS 223 16" SS Bull BBL flat top upper. I was concerned that item such as lights mounted on this gas block would interfere with the 3 x 9 Burris scope I have mounted in low rings on the flat top upper. With my Surefire light mounted at the 45 degree angle this item provides there is no interference with the scopes field of view. The fit and finish of the 45 degree angle mount seems quite good and it took all of 30 seconds to mount. I would make sure you have enough rail and grooves for all three screws to each have a slot of their own.
not suitable for sights
beautifully made, but contrary to writeup, not suitable for a sight unless used only at one distance. The centerline of the angle is not in line with an AR barrel. Consequently, if you sight in at a particular range, the paralax error will put the sight significantly off at any other range. Compare it to the "designed for AR" angled backup iron sights and you will see that the sights are much lower on the side of the rifle and a perpendicular line from the center of the sight pad will intersect the center of the barrel. This angle mount would be teriffic for a light and is very well made and compact--just isn't good for mounting a sight.
