HAMMERELI ARMS - FORCE B1 22 LONG RIFLE STRAIGHT PULL BOLT ACTION RIFLE

TpI had been thinking about one for some time. Initially there was only one review and the score was bad. When I took the time to read it, he gave 3 stars because he thought it was a semi-automatic rifle (what?)! This was and was never intended to be a semi-automatic. The came out with a grey laminated stock version (looks like a Boyd's). I decided to pay the extra for it and I am glad I did. It seems well built. It is not really a Hammerli. It is made in Germany, but by Umarex (knock and air gun company). I wish that had been disclosed. I probably would have spent more and purchased a Volquartsen version of the same action. Oh well... The action is VERY stiff. It makes a loud SNAP when you initially unlock the bolt. Wouldn't be great for a squirrel rifle! It comes with one Ruger 10/22 magazine with a plastic "Hammerli" clip to make it work. Mine came with 2 more plastic clips, but only the one magazine. It doesn't install well and hangs down and catches a bit. I don't understand why they didn't just make it fit the standard Ruger magazine or truly make their own. Maybe they are planning a 22 mag or 17 HMR version down the road?

First it is a straight pull bjolt action, not smi auto. 50 yard accuracy is good with a variety of ammo. 22 lr require a magazine spacer that clip on the magazine. Only one comes with the rifle. I contacted Hammerli and they do not have the spacer availble yet. Spacer can be difficult to remove and reinstall. You need to run the bolt aggressively so the spent brass are ejected from the action, or the action will jam. The stock adjustments are nice. I feel the action and operation will improve. I have shot approximately 300 rounds of assorted ammo from it. 50 yard groups range from 3/4 to 1 1/2 inch. The trigger is great.
