The Smith & Wesson M&P 10MM M2.0 Optic Ready is a full-size, striker-fired semi-automatic handgun chambered in 10mm Auto, available with a 4-inch or 4.6-inch stainless steel barrel, a 15-round capacity, and your choice of black or FDE finish with or without a thumb safety. The polymer frame houses an embedded stainless steel chassis, the slide is optic-ready with a flat-face M2.0 trigger, and the pistol measures between 7.2 and 7.9 inches long, 5.6 inches tall, and weighs between 27.8 and 29.3 ounces depending on configuration.

Reliable straight shooter
As a hunting side arm in bear and lion country, the 10mm by S&W is trustworthy. Ive had zero malfunctions at the range with over 3k rounds through it. Classic grip angle and texture feels comfortable in hand and the trigger is excellent for factory. The only complaints i ever hear about this piece are new or untrained shooters who are limp wristing or hitting the mag release by mistake. 10mm is a lot of power in a hand gun and takes practice to control. Would not recommend for newbs.

Surprising
I am a rural Alaskan LEO and an admitted 10mm addict. I'm proud to admit I've pared my 10mm collection down to only fourteen sidearms now. The S&W was bought as a lark. Curiousity. I compared it v. a competitor's new 10mm P3** and initially it was found lacking, so I bought both. While the S&W compared poorly to the competitor at the gun counter, it absolutely blew away the other at the range. Simple fact is, it is a very good trigger (which later received an aftermarket) but most importantly, unlike the other new-to-the-market competitor, you can customize this to fit your grip perfectly. A perfect fitting handgun is critical to effective sidearm use. Long story short, I no longer off-duty carry the S**, the Gl***, or even the DW, it is S&W all the way now. I have yet to have one malf with mine after approximate 3200rds. In Alaska. Even during winter.

Solid
I picked up the 4.6" model locally, and prior to testing, immediately replaced the recoil spring and mag springs. I've run several mags of Magtech 180 grain and Underwood 200 grain, and I've never had a malfunction. No mags have dropped unintentionally. I'd advise prospective owners to look into the aftermarket mag springs that will not prematurely yield/wear. The only con, the plastic optic spacer is garbage. Pick up a metal one for your optic, with longer screws than were supplied with the pistol.

Good shooter
Im happy. Gun is solid and easy to use and clean. Trigger breaks around 4-4.5 lbs. Optic mounting is nice, includes plates and fasteners. Seems accurate and dead nuts reliable. If I was to criticize anything, I would recommend S&W include a basic OWB holster at this price point.

Repetative Failure to Feed & Magazine drops out while shooting - Sent back to S&W twice
I Purchased two new M&P 10mm pistols. Both fail to feed 2-3x per magazine, despite multiple ammo brands and changing magazines. And, each of the magazines falls out of the mag well during shooting. Based on several reviews and various responses, this is apparently a known problem. Yet, I have returned my two pistols to S&W twice, each time being told there is "nothing wrong with the pistols" and they now refuse to consider my problem further. Final word from them is that my pistols "are within factory specs".
