CHOATE - Rem. 1100 Forend

Have you tried to find a synthetic forend for a Remington 1100 lately? This forend is less than half the price 0f a USED Remington part and as good if not better! I'm fitting one of my 1100s as a "house gun" with a Mesa Tactical stock, 18" barrel and a Scattergun Technologies 2 shot mag extension with a Nordic clamp. This forend is perfect, not bulky, and practically unbreakable. Job done!

I purchased this as a replacement forend for an 11-87 Police in order to have the clearance needed to mount a sidesaddle shell holder on the receiver(factory forend would not permit this without modification). Initially, I did not think the Choate forend would fit after it became jammed during installation. Once I got it back off the assembly, I discovered the Gas Cylinder Collar (GCC) was stuck hard in the forend and would not fully seat. I had this forend boxed up and ready to return to Brownells when I started reading some Internet discussion regarding the purpose of the GCC and what guns require it and what guns do not. After further research and observation, I concluded that MY particular 11-87P did NOT require the use of the GCC. Omitting that part allowed the Choate forearm to fit perfectly. In addition, while my gun previously had a fair amount of wiggle and play between the forend, the barrel and the receiver (annoying but it didn't seem to affect operation) the Choate forend has eliminated that play and the gun feels much more solid in my hands. Forty rounds of heavy 00 Buck (9 pellets @ 1300fps) and a disassembly confirmed that everything was running better than ever WITH the Choate forend and WITHOUT the GCC. I gave this product 4* because it did not come with any installation instructions regarding the use of the GCC and the fact that it would not fit. DISCLAIMER- I am not a gunsmith and I am not advising ANYBODY to omit factory parts on THEIR 11-87 Police until they are certain of the consequences. A few sidenotes: The Choate forend has a much more aggressive texture than the Remington factory synthetic forend. The Choate forend DOES NOT comes with a sling swivel mount as indicated in the product description. It DOES allow the use of "sidesaddle" attachments to the receiver as it does not overlap onto the receiver as far back as the factory forend. The Choate forend does NOT have the ball detent found on many factory forends.

Recieved forearm and it wont fit on my 1100, the center is caved in too narrow, poor quality and fit
