SB TACTICAL - SB22 15" Fixed Chassis Kit for Ruger 10/22 Black

A good product from SB Tactical. I found it solidly built, with metal parts for the areas that can take the most stress (like the 1913 rail, pistol grip mount point, and quick detach sling point...all metal). Also, SB Tactical has excellent customer service...I received one of the first production versions of this chassis, and there was an issue with the fitment of the current Ruger 10/22 receiver...SB Tactical replaced the chassis at no charge, and paid for shipping. The corrected chassis was a good, straightforward fit. Really nice, responsive people who stand by their products.

I bought this for my 10/22 build which is based on the Brownells BRN-22 railed receiver. The OOTB fit is "extremely snug" (read: "might require some struggling, cussing and banging the butt on the floor to seat it just a skosh more so it fits properly") but ultimately it does fit. I confirmed that the snugness is NOT because of the BRN-22 itself, but is due to the trigger guard (fwiw, Ruger B-2C, but I presume the form factor for the trigger guard is similar among all variants). You will need to buy a stock separately for this chassis. I went with the SB Tactical TF1913 brace, which folds sideways, and recommend that as well. (Take note of relevant gun laws about "pistol braces" -- my 10/22 barrel is 18.5 inches so I avoid potential ATF problems with this brace)

I purchased the chassis for a Ruger 10/22 Charger. The chassis that I received from Brownells did not work with the Charger action. I have a T/C 10/22 that did fit. I contacted SB Tactical and they acknowledged this challenge and sent me another chassis free of charge, which did work. I have not had a change to use the chassis, but I do like it better than the original from Ruger. I would still recommend the chassis, but you may want to purchase from SB if you have a 10/22 Charger.

I ordered this chassis because I liked the design and the idea of the rear picatinny system for attaching buttstocks. Also, in pictures here and the manufacturers website it shows the rail cover should mate at the same level as a standard receiver rail. Was planning on using a pair of AR style flip sights. After receiving this kit, there were issues. I could not get my receiver to fit in this chassis without needing to shave some plastic. After using this same receiver in other stocks and chassis prior, I was unwilling to waste time doing that. Next, both front barrel covers were badly warped and would put excess stress on the thin plastic screw holes on the chassis had I tried to attach one. Even after holding the receiver in the chassis with my hand and seeing how the rail cover would mate with my receiver rail, they were different heights. I am returning this kit. Clearly they need to use either better quality polymer, or use aluminum like many of the higher end aftermarket chassis on the market.
