WOOD PLUS - Mauser 95 Stock Sporter Wood Brown

Bought this stock for a 93 small ring that I am bringing back to life. Very pleased with it! Did not expect to see the amount of figure in the wood for this price. There is also plenty of wood to work with so this is not a stock that you can just sand a little bit here and there and be good to go. Perfect stock for making a custom gun that will look great after a little elbow grease, and it won't break the bank.

I ordered this stock to replace one on my Dads 1916 Spanish Mauser, he didn't want a really fancy stock since its not a fancy rifle, just a good deer gun. I haven't had the big tools and space to do much gunsmith work since I enlisted so the pre-inlet was a big help, i would recommend this for beginners or those of us without much free time or power tools. The quality of the wood was also nice with plenty of figure which I didnt expect for an economy priced stock. If it holds up as well as it looks and feels, i anticipate many more years of faithful use out of this stock and rifle.

Walnut better than other semi-fancy grade stocks. Inletting drop in except depth of rear tang. Will make nice 257 Bob. Will purchase again.

The quality of the walnut is excellent, and the finishing should be easy enough on the exterior. The trigger-guard/magazine inletting is 98% there, some honing should fix that area. HOWEVER, the receiver area is absolutely not fully inletted for 95 pattern mauser. My 1895 Chilean will not drop into that area without substantial additional inletting. It will require some solid work with a dremmel to cut out the rear of the receiver area, as the area for the receiver shoulders are not inletted at all. I was hoping for only minor honing and sorting out the barrel channel, but the stock is going to require notably more work that that, its doable, but be prepared for much more effort to make work. Pretty disappointed.
