WOOD PLUS - Marlin 336 Pistol Grip Stock, Unfinished

This stock is much better than the one I got from Boyds. Very well made. I will be ordering it again. As far as fitment, all Marlin 336 pistol grips are not the same. I got this for a 336 made in 1948 and it had more of curve to the pistol grip. I had to inlet the stock about 3/16 inch more to get the lower tang to recess into the wooden grip. This fit fine on a Marlin made in the 60's. The hiegth of the lower tang where it touches the wood pistol grip on the 1948 is .9 inches and the Marlin from the 60's was .65 inches. For your reference.

First of all I’m a lifelong woodworker, when I received the stock, I was literally shocked! I was just expecting straight grain walnut, what I received was really figured, almost like claro walnut. I ordered the stock, for $70 which is a steal, saved me literally hours of work carving a stock, which I have done before building a 50 cal for my wife. So I have to drill a tang hole, no biggie. Really impressed with the quality.

I'd been looking for a replacement stock for my faithful 336 for quite a while, so was delighted to finally find one available from Brownells. Mine arrived with no cosmetic defects, a nice grain pattern and spot-on inletting. Drilling the hole for the stock screw wasn't a problem (started with undersize bits and worked up). Still fiddling with stain to get a "perfect" match to the fore-end, but this is the advantage of an unfinished stock. IMHO, this stock is at least equivalent to the factory original. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

First off I want to say Thank You Brownell This was easy to order shipped on time and I got it in 4 days... This Buttstock is about 98 percent accurate compared to the original... Very nice piece of walnut lines are very straight feels real strong We will need to do a little sanding on it... Great product... I'll write more later after I get it stained... Thanks Brownell
