Savage axis
This sight is for a savage 110 and comes with 6-48 screws. Newer savage 110 and axis rifles come with 8-40 screws. I have an axis in 350 legend I wanted open sights on. The sight fits the action perfect. So, the holes in the sight is drilled large enough 8-40 screws will fit in the holes. It just so happens your factory scope base bolts are just long enough to work but the countersink for the bolts is about .205 around and on the shallow dovetail end about .165 deep. the 8-40 scope base bolt heads are about .231 around and .200 thick. So after chucking the bolts and turning them down to .199 with a surface grinder had to shorten the dovetail side bolt a little to clear the dovetail. With the sight attached and a makeshift zip tie front sight to figure sight height it needs to be total about .640 with adjustment dead in the middle. I bought a .225 sight ramp and a .410 height sight so will be about .635 and a 6-48 tap. Haven’t got the barrel tapped yet but giving this information in case someone else is as where I am with it.
