What is the MIDWEST INDUSTRIES, INC. - AR-15 Combat Back Up Iron Rear Sight?

Midwest Industries took the standard A2 rear sight aperture and preserved this classic sight picture that shooters know and love while packaging it in a higher-quality, lighter housing in the form of its AR-15 Combat Back-Up Rear Sight. Each Midwest Industries AR-15 Combat Backup Rear Sight is designed to sit at the same height above the rail as standard, mil-spec irons and uses the same A2 rear aperture. In fact, if you're looking to enhance the sight even more, this rear housing will accommodate Trijicon replacement apertures. The entire Midwest Industries AR-15 Combat Fixed Front Sight is machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum and features a hardcoat-anodized finish. Both rifle and carbine sights are included, with each one offering 0.5- and 0.65-MOA adjustments, respectively. The weight of the rear sight is 1.9 ounces.

Great Buy
Im a big fan of Midwest Industries. I have used LMT sights in the past because I had elevation and windage just like my A2 did and they were worth the price. I dont shoot much past 100 yards anymore so I went with these. I am very pleased with this rear sight and for the price, I highly recommend this. These sights are designed like the early M-16 and A1. A bullet tip or something of that size to move the sight left to right. They are not meant to be adjusted on the fly during a fight. No fine tuning. They are designed to be sighted in and left alone. Kentucky windage is how you adjust for a cross wind. I do wish they had put a slot in the middle for a flat head screw driver to aid in the adjustments. You need to put something in one of the wholes and push or pull the dial to adjust the sight. You can move to many clicks. So be careful. There are no large knobs protruding off the side. A flat head screw is what holds it in place. A sleek design.

Well made product
Placed a set of Midwest Industries front and rear back up sights on my AR-15. They are very clean and well made. Once installed they are both quite solid. The detent button on the rear sight was a bit more difficult to depress than I thought it would be, however, once it is dialed in you don't have t mess with it. I felt the set worked well and look great on the rifle. I love them!!!

Solid Fixed Rear Sight
I am very pleased with this fixed sight. It has a large adjustment, great aesthetics and a good sized aperture. I can see using this on a variety of platforms. The shape and build quality is also solid. I would fully recommend this product for anyone who needs a sturdy, high quality fixed rear sight.

Don't like it.
My only real complaint about it is that it's hard to adjust. Since it has 8 detents for the adjustment, the usual sight tool doesn't work. Bullet tip didn't work. Had to use a punch to push the detent. It's on, and it's adjusted, but I wouldn't buy another. My go-to is DD A1.5s, which were on backorder when I ordered this. All that said, it is a high quality part.
