What is the AERO PRECISION - Nylon Tip Receiver Tension Set Screw 1/4-28 x 1/2 for AR-15?

This Nylon Tipped Tension Set Screw allows users to fine tune the fit of their upper with Aero Precision’s Gen 2 Lower Receivers. Achieve a tight fit with any standard AR-15 upper receiver by inserting the screw into the grip tang of Aero Precision’s Gen 2 Lower Receiver and tightening against the upper receiver until there is no wobble between the 2 parts.

NOTE: This is a replacement tension screw. All of Aero Precision’s Gen 2 AR15 and M5 Lower Receivers come with this screw pre-installed.

Assures tight fit between AR upper/lower
As expected from Aero, the material, and workmanship of this little set screw appear to be excellent. The threads are clean and precise. Screws in from the top interior of the lower just below the takedown pin mounting holes. Screw it in until it bottoms and then adjusts from the bottom through the grip. I installed mine while building my latest AR15 so I installed it prior to attaching the grip. In my opinion, the nylon tipped set screw is superior to using a shock buffer and does not run the risk of the buffer riding up or coming apart and interfering with the buffer. I will not put another shock buffer in an AR. Be advised that it only works if your lower is drilled and tapped for this screw.
