Brownells BRN-22 Receiver & Threaded Barrel Bundle
Build your custom Ruger® 10/22®-compatible rimfire rifle with the Brownells BRN-22 Receiver and Barrel Bundle. Pair a precision-machined BRN-22 stripped receiver with a 16.1" threaded .22 LR barrel, choosing the configuration, finish, and barrel profile that best suit your build.
Customize your bundle: Choose between a railed or smooth-top receiver, select your receiver finish, then pair it with either a .920" Bull Barrel or Factory Sporter Barrel in black nitride or stainless steel. With 16 possible combinations, you can select the receiver and barrel configuration you prefer in one package.
Step 1: Choose Your BRN-22 Receiver
Both receiver configurations are precision-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum billet and designed for compatibility with Ruger® 10/22® OEM components.
BRN-22R: Integrated Picatinny Rail
The BRN-22R features an integral 0 MOA Picatinny top rail for secure, versatile optics mounting without requiring a separate scope base.
BRN-22: Smooth Top
The smooth-top BRN-22 features a traditional receiver profile with pre-drilled mounting holes compatible with standard Ruger® 10/22® scope rails.
Receiver Finish Options
- Matte Black Anodized: After machining, BRN-22 receivers get a tough matte black Type 2 hardcoat anodized finish, like the finishes found on many AR-15 receivers.
- Clear Anodized: An alternative finish that preserves the natural aluminum appearance.
Step 2: Choose Your BRN-22 Barrel Profile
Each BRN-22 barrel features a 16.1" length, 1:16" twist, conventional 6-groove rifling, and a 1/2x28 threaded muzzle. Choose between two barrel profiles with different chamber designs and weight characteristics.
.920" Bull Barrel | Bentz Chamber | 2.8 lbs.
The BRN-22 Bull Barrel features a heavy .920" profile and a Bentz chamber designed to balance accuracy potential with reliable semi-automatic operation.
A Bentz chamber falls between the more generous dimensions of a standard SAAMI sporting chamber and the tighter dimensions of a dedicated match chamber. Its tighter cartridge fit can promote greater consistency and accuracy potential, while retaining clearance intended to support reliable feeding and extraction in semi-automatic rifles.
Weighing approximately 2.8 lbs., the Bull Barrel is suited for accuracy-focused builds where a heavier barrel profile is preferred.
Factory Sporter Barrel | SAAMI Chamber | 1.6 lbs.
The BRN-22 Factory Sporter Barrel features a lighter, traditional sporter contour and a SAAMI-standard sporting chamber.
Compared to tighter Bentz or match chambers, the SAAMI sporting chamber provides more generous clearances, accommodating variations in ammunition dimensions and supporting reliable function across a broad range of commercially available .22 LR ammunition.
At approximately 1.6 lbs., the Factory Sporter Barrel weighs 1.2 lbs. less than the Bull Barrel, making it an excellent option for builds where reducing overall weight is a priority.
Step 3: Choose Your Barrel Material
4140 Chrome-Moly Steel | Black Nitride
Manufactured from 4140 chrome-moly steel with a durable black nitride finish. This configuration provides a traditional black barrel appearance.
416R Stainless Steel
Manufactured from 416R stainless steel, an alloy developed for precision barrel applications. This configuration offers an alternative material and stainless appearance for your BRN-22 build.
Receiver Construction & Features
Each BRN-22 receiver is precision-machined from 6061 aluminum billet to exacting tolerances.
Why machined instead of forged, like most commercial receivers? All you need to do is look inside at the smooth, clean interior to realize that a machined receiver can be held to much tighter tolerances for a precise fit with other parts.
A pre-drilled cleaning rod access hole at the rear of the receiver allows bore cleaning from the chamber end, helping prevent cleaning rod damage to the muzzle crown.

Please Note: This bundle includes a stripped receiver and barrel, not a complete rifle. Additional components are required and are not included.
Compatibility & Fitment Notes
- BRN-22 receivers are designed for use with Ruger® 10/22® OEM bolts & Brownells BRN-22 Bolts. Compatibility with all aftermarket bolts is not guaranteed.
- Due to dimensional differences in aftermarket and some older factory aluminum trigger housings, fitting may be required.
- Barrel contour can affect stock compatibility. Verify that your stock's barrel channel accommodates the selected barrel profile, particularly the .920" Bull Barrel.
- Actual ammunition performance and reliability depend on the complete firearm configuration, ammunition, and operating conditions.
Shipping & Transfer Restrictions
The BRN-22 receiver requires an FFL transfer. Threaded barrel shipping restrictions apply, including restrictions on shipments to California. Please verify applicable shipping and transfer requirements before ordering.
