Does what I wanted and does it well.
Easy to install, under 3 minutes with standard screwdriver. Perfect fit. Works great.
Excellent but incomplete upgrade
Ruger did a great job in designing this part. It's my top choice among the many extended magazines catches out there in terms of size, ergonomics, and quality of material, not to mention the excellent price tag. Ruger however missed something as much important in upgrading their magazine catch assembly. The magazine spring remains unchanged. For the original 10-shot rotary mag it's perfect. However, when the heavy hi-cap magazine is used especially drum mags the weak spring does not hold the magazine firmly in place and can accidentally disengage while the gun is being fired. This happened to me many times as well as others. Oversize extended mag catch will work more positively with heavier springs because of their extra weight and bulk. Heavier magazine spring is a simple fix for all these concerns. Let's hope somebody is listening.
