FAXON FIREARMS - DUTY 350 LEGEND GUNNER PROFILE RIFLE BARREL FOR AR-15

I recently purchased one of these barrels because I had extra parts that needed a barrel and the ammunition for the legend is reasonably priced and available during this COVID panic. I used a Superlative Arms piston system with it and it works great. I had to turn the gas down a bit, but once that was set it was comfortable to shoot and averages 1" three shot groups at 100 yards. I look forward to seeing how effective this will be on some feral hogs.

I haven't shot this yet so take this review for what it's worth, I will come back and report if it's junk, trust me on that!! The fit and finish is top notch, very nicely done and well protected in the packaging. Went into a bravo company upper, yhm gas block fit fine, no muzzle device at the moment just a thread protector but the threads are nice and square. Overall it looks like a winner, I was concerned about it being a little light as it's not a particularly beefy barrel but it balances nice on a collapsible stock lower with a trijicon mro red dot. I think for a hunting rifle it'll be just fine. If this thing doesn't shoot for beans I'll be back to lower the rating and share the deets...

I own several Faxon AR barrels and I'm generally very happy with their products. However, I need to point out in my experience this 350 Legend barrel WILL NOT work with a M4 cut upper receiver with most available ammunition. The M4 feedramp cuts are the cuts meant to help feed ammunition into the chamber. This barrel is not cut/beveled enough to match the M4 cuts. As the bolt strips a round out of the magazine and drives it toward the chamber, a flat/hollow/soft tip will impact the small sharp edge created between the M4 cut and the barrel extension and jam as a line is cut/deformed into the bullet tip. I expect the only way to make this barrel work with a receiver with M4 feed ramps would be to grind out part of the barrel extension.
