PACHMAYR - XLT MAGNUM ULTRA-SOFT TRAP PAD

This is a very nice pad. Yes I had to grind the bottom flat but it was no big deal. The pad grinds easy and it feels great. I plan to buy another for my other trap gun.

I have installed over a dozen of these pads in the past few years with excellent results. Up until now they have been of good quality, dense yet resilient rubber, and where easy to grid to shape. The most recent pad purchased displayed fish scale type rubber which came off in chunks and strings during grinding. As such it could not be installed. Somebody at Lyman is not paying attention. Until the quality improves, this is a product to avoid. Visual inspection is possible by the seller. If the external surface of the pad sides is wavy or uneven in texture, the pad should not be shipped.

Giving this product a 1 star is too high. When they indicate grind to fit, on this pad, you have to grind all surfaces. The base of this recoil pad was bowed on each end. At the top it was out at least 1/32" gap. At the bottom the gap was at least 1/16 - 3/32". Had to put the base on the belt sander to get it flat.
