Seven rounds, yes seven, because even though John M. Browning knew he could put eight rounds in the mag he chose a stronger spring for reliability over capacity. For years guys have tried to fix what ain't broken and now the gun that was known for unprecedented reliability is questioned regularly. The factory bought a cheaper magazine to keep cost down and meet the all important price point. Most 1911 issues are magazine related, this magazine has fixed many a pistol that otherwise would have been "polished" to death by a so called gunsmith. Save yourself aggravation and spend the extra money, remember buy once, cry once...
