Model 317 with stock springs measured 15 lbs before. Measured 8.5 lbs after new springs were installed. I started with the lowest power trigger return spring and was completely satisfied with the results.

Spring kit is just what the finger ordered! It brough the J-frame DAO from something well over what my scale could measure to a consistent 10.5lbs. It does not hesitate to ignite the Win or CCI primers I tested. It is easy to install too. While installing it, take the time to clean and lubricate the parts behind the side plate. Just follow the instructions and enjoy. The price is right too. I would recommend to a friend.

I wouldn't expect a huge difference. I polished the trigger and knocked off some burrs and got rid of some metal shavings. Little oil and a little grease. Smoothed out a couple spots. Mostly just a little flits here and there. An india stone I got on here for burs works well. Can smooth a little bit with it. The springs alone work great and I used the lightest return. A little lighter and no light strikes. Seem like good quality. Time will tell. Feel good though and no reason to believe there not. Over all I would do the same thing to all my smiths. Basically be your own performance center. The better the trigger the better the accuracy for me and these springs combined with everything else I did made the trigger that much better with out taking away it's integrity.

Im in my mid 70s with arthritic hands and fingers. The double action pull on my M638 (aluminum frame) would begin to get painful after two cylinders firing. I measured the pull at about 12 lbs. before I Installed the replacement hammer spring and the 14# trigger return spring from this kit. It is very helpful to have completely disassembled S&W handguns before you do this one. One thing to know before starting the work is that the common trigger return spring removal tool for the S&W double action revolver does not fit around many of the newer, larger diameter return spring studs which is what I discovered on this gun. So youll have to do some fitting on the working end of that tool before proceeding. However, I used a 6 long bit of 0.25 diameter brass rod, shaped on one end like a slotted screwdriver to coax the spring out of position without scratching things up. After completing the work, the double action pull is now 11 lbs. but feels considerably less for some reason. Ive test fired the gun and after about 200 hundred rounds, all fired double action, the gun never miss fired or showed any evidence of light primer strikes. Should have done this a long time ago. You might try the 13# trigger return spring for an even lighter double action pull.

In an attempt to lighten the trigger pull on my S&W 632 my gunsmith cut coils from the factory springs. As a result I was getting light strikes making the revolver unreliable. I ordered this spring set and my gunsmith installed them using the 13 lb. trigger spring and now my 632 has a great trigger and is 100% reliable. These are Wolff spring and I highly recommend them.
