WILSON COMBAT - .45 ACP TITANIUM FIRING PIN

I have a rock island 1911 a1 gi Compact 45 acp. works great drop in no gunsmith needed for my pistol. stright drop in and go for me.

The Titanium Firing Pin is a must for any Owner of a 1911 Colt Series 70 or older. The reason the 1911 Colt Series 80 came out was to add the firing pin safety mechanism. It was well known that the Colt Series 70 and older 1911 models (including the some of the Remington 870 Shotguns) had inertial firing pins, which could discharge a round if dropped and it landed on the muzzle. In other words, the mass of the firing pin overcame the resistance of the spring! To help overcome that possibility, several decades ago, Chip McCormick, came out with a Titanium Firing Pin. With its lower mass, the possibility of a discharge was greatly reduced, if not eliminated. It also slightly reduced lock time because of the low mass moving faster. Chip also developed one of the best trigger designs I have ever seen. Unfortunately, it is no longer made. It combined a Carbon Fiber trigger groove with a Titanium Bow. This enabled you to make a crisper, lighter trigger for a target gun, without the fear of an unintentional second shot. With a standard trigger, the mass goes backward, forward, and then backward, again. The standard mass can hit the sear engagement hard enough, to disengage. It is a game a gunsmith plays on a target gun, keeping the trigger crisp/light, while not having the trigger bow dislodge the sear. The Chip McCormick Trigger, because of its low mass, made this much simpler! I wish someone would bring it out, again. jmho

Bought to put in my kimber camp guard. Fits, BUT it does NOT always engage the firing pin safety plunger. Called Wilson to see if there is a work around. They told me to change the main spring and/or the firing pin spring. Neither of those springs has anything to do with the firing pin safety plunger. Now it just sits in my workbench collecting dust.
