Consider/check your holster fit!
I wasn’t able to update my original/initial review, so this is my second post regarding this Volquartsen rear sight. We learn things about products after actually using them! That’s the case here. I like the sight, and it did take a little fiddling with to get it centered before zeroing the sight. I got that sorted out okay. The “Oh Duh” moment came when I attempted to put the pistol in my triple K holster, and realized the Volquartsen sight is longer than the factory Ruger rear sight. That’s a problem because the longer rear sight prevents the pistol from being fully inserted in the holster. As a result, the thumb strap can’t be secured. The Volquartsen rear sight is approximately half inch longer than the factory sight. So…..I might move the Volquartsen sight to a different pistol or get a different holster or modify this one? Don’t know just yet.

Good Sight
Silly 😜 me! It took me a couple of Range Trips before I got it sorted out. Yes, the sight installs the same way the factory sight installs. It’s easy, but don’t lose the tiny screws, springs, etc. 1st. My first “duh” moment was when I ran out of windage adjustment, was maxed out and not zeroed. Returning to my little shop, I removed the sight, and counted the entire range of adjustment while clicking through with a screwdriver. I also applied a bit of oil. After mechanically centering the sight, I re-installed the sight and attempted to center the sight in the dovetail by “eye balling” it. That was all at a workbench. I returned to the range with my tools! After firing a group, I used a pencil to mark (very softly) a witness line on the rear sight and the pistol’s receiver. I then loosened the sight’s screws, and drifted the entire rear sight. I repeated this until I was zeroed at 10 yards. I was well zeroed without ever touching the sight’s adjustment screws. Then I locked everything down. I did make some minor adjustments to the sights (using a screwdriver) but not much. Good luck 🍀

It's the Bomar for Ruger .22 Auto's
Much better than the stock site that Ruger provides. Adjustments are finer and site picture is much more defined. Solid unit and the only disadvantage is that it must be fitted to the dovetail. For those that were complaining that there were no instructions here they are: - Remove the elevation screw all the way out until you can move the leaf forward - Take out the dual elevation Springs and don't lose them - Remove the set screws and clean them with acetone along with the holes - Fit the site base appropriately to the dovetail then drift it in as best as possible so that it is even on both sides with the receiver - Lock down site base with the two set screws using blue Loctite - Replace the dual elevation springs and screw down the elevation screw

Nice quality sight
Definitely a tighter fit then what the description leads one to believe. I was installing the sight on a Ruger MKIII Hunter 22/45 and needed a hammer from the get go! --Pros: upside is that the set screws really are needed and are just here as backups, really high quality part. --Cons: If you don't have the right hammer/ nylon punch, you could damage the sight or receiver. (you would need a lot of force for either). Also there are no instructions whatsoever, so if you're not mechanically inclined and can figure how things work by analyzing them, try a different sight or let a professional do the installation. Beside a soft surface to protect the receive, this was the only tool I needed: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/general-gunsmith-tools/hammers/1-nylon-brass-hammer-prod12588.aspx

VOLQUARTSEN VC2TL / TL2000
Fitted this rear sight to my Ruger Comp Mk111. Perfect fit and drifted in tight so it won't move. The two supplied locking screws are great to keep it in place. Sight picture is much improved over stock due to the shallower and narrower notch. Not so much guess work in aiming now. Better groups. Awesome. Non reflective ribbing on the sight blade is great feature. There is no freeplay in this unit - the stock sight wobbled all over the place. Windage adjustment screw is thankfully much larger than the tiny one on the original sight. Only downside was the supplied hex key was too loose to safely use - no biggie. Read my review and buy this sight without any reservations. Cheers all, Brad.
