Good looking, but not necessary
Ordered along with a EGW pre-fit bushing. I like the look of the bushing, however I will be sticking with a gi style plug. The difference in length is really not that noticeable. The smooth face of this plug is also less functional than I would have thought. With this plug having no checkering on its face, it actually makes gi takedown just a bit harder. It is a good looking part, matches the finish of the EGW bushing exactly, a rich blue.
5
Fit my RIA 1911-A1 FS perfectly
Although this plug is a 1/2" shorter than the original RIA spring plug on my 1911-A1 FS, it fit perfectly with the EGW carry bevel bushing and works flawlessly.
3
Too long by mm for commander
I could not close the bushing as it bottomed out on the slide inside. I'm not sure if it is supposed to fit the commander but it does not. At least not my 25+ year old version. The hole it pretty big too. I think bigger than the one that went down range when the bushing broke.
2
Compromise Part
I made this point to EGW when the thick bushing and matching plug were first offered: the plug works and looks fine. However it is only available in the short commander length. There are 2 reasons why it is not great for the government model. 1). The shorter plug is more difficult to manage during assembly. 2). The short plug causes scraping against the spring. When racking the slide, unpleasant and unnecessary crunching noises are produced. Not what you expect from EGW. The only other product choice is the long nose Wilson plug in stainless only.
