What is the CYLINDER & SLIDE - Tactical Match Hammer Strut?

C&S’s Tactical Match strut is made longer than the original factory strut to provide more mainspring compression for a stronger hammer strike, faster lock time, and more reliable ignition. It is shaped to prevent it from rubbing against the sear spring, which could have an adverse effect the trigger pull and lock time. Precisely machined from high-grade steel for strength and polished for a super-smooth finish. Some gunsmith fitting may be required.

SPECS: Carbon steel, natural silver finish. May require fitting

extra long ?
product description clearly states "extra long". no actual length stated. I requested twice for actual length and received no response. I ordered anyway and when I received it I measured and compared to others. no different from factory spec length.

This is THE one
Everything it should be. Replaced a more expensive unit and the fit form finish and function are night and day. I'll be using these for all my 1911 needs from now on. Cant give this the praise it deserves.

They did it again !
One of the most over looked parts in the 1911 is now a true performance part. Improved geometry, extra length,and excellent machining make this a great part. Not to mention the faster lock time, and it dose not hit the sear spring. Fantastic!

Works Great !!!
I changed the mainspring housing with lock on my Springfield Mil Spec and began getting occasional failures to fire. After checking other possible causes, I realized the new mainspring housing didn't allow for sufficient tension in the last, little bit of hammer travel. This strut, which is slightly longer than original, cured the problem!!! I now get consistent ignition and there is still spring force in that last bit of hammer travel. Great product which worked well for me. In my case, no fitting was required.
