CYLINDER & SLIDE - 1911 Magazine Release Lock

The flange broke off of this part on one of my 1911s, so required replacement. Happened rarely enough that I had to remind myself exactly how it worked, but that was easy enough. In the process, it reminded me of how detailed a Chinese puzzle the 1911 is, and how brilliantly it was conceived and executed. Browning really was a warrior poet, whether he ever wrote a line or didnt. His designs were his poetry.

This slot is 90 degrees from the Catch Lock I replaced. Aligned w the lug, not as pictured. Has no affect on the function but some might find it aesthetically a problem. I kinda like it better myself. DO NOT make the mistake of thinking that is a screw head. It is a 1/4 turn key, not a screw. Once buggerd up it's a real PAIN to get it unlocked. Do not force it! 1/4 turn CCW is easy when you have pressed the button in exactly to the "sweet spot". Not enough, or too much, will prevent the turning. On my gun the "sweet spot" was back up a tiny bit from as far as you could press it. Once I found it, it was slick as a key turn. Same deal going back in. Putting the lock into the catch is pretty easy as you can see what to do. If you can't get to come easy you ain't holding your mouth right. Be patient or get help. One Pkg. contained 2 locks.

These fit properly, and you get two for the price of one. Brownells doesn't mention it in the description, but the package from the manufacturer clearly states that this is a set of two, so enjoy.
