ED BROWN - Competition Mainspring 5 pak

I shoot reduced power loads and needed to lighted up the amount of force required to actuate the slide. I could not go any lighter on the recoil spring, as I would get failure to feed, so I lightened up the main spring. I did need to shorten this spring a bit, but that is not big deal. Just cut coils off in 1/2 to 1 coil increments until everything works.

I've found these Ed Brown 19# five packs the best value out there, consistently. You can bring your trigger pull weight down by monkeying around with your sear spring, but if you get it wrong then you're out a sear spring too. Factory mainspring is 23# in virtually all 1911s, assuming you have a decent trigger to begin with, installing one of these is an easy trigger job. I would not go below 19#. One caution though: Also always install an extra-power firing pin return spring as well when you do this, or you'll hate yourself the next time you shoot. AKA, "floppy firing pin syndrome". Fit was fine but I was after reduced trigger pull and this didnt do that at all! Pull was 4.1 lbs before and 4.1 lbs after
