What is the MAGPUL - Sling Mount Kit Type 2 Black?
While the STR® Carbine Stock comes with a Sling Mount Kit - TYPE 1 (MAG333) push-button QD swivel socket pre-installed on the left side of the stock, this threaded TYPE 2 Kit can be installed on the opposite side as an additional mounting point for push-button swivels of Magpul® QDM (MAG543).


Furthermore, for running ambidextrous sling swivels on the SGA®, MOE® Rifle, MOE® Fixed Carbine, MOE® AK, Zhukov-S, Hunter 700, and Hunter X-22 Stocks, this TYPE 2 Kit must be utilized in conjunction with the optional TYPE 1 Kit.


Heavy-duty black phosphatized steel construction easily installs with the STR's original hardware, or with the hardware included with the TYPE 1 Kit. Swivels not included.

Yes, this is the type-2 sling socket you need.
The Brownells’ description is a bit confusing, so I will spell it out: yes this is the Type-2 sling mount socket that installs in the opposite side of any Magpul stock, such as the CTR, etc. One word of caution: you need to use the screws that came with your original type-1 sling socket kit. Your type-1 kit came with several screws of different lengths. With the type-1 kit, you use the tiny nut that came the kit. The nut isn’t used when you add the type-2, but you need the slightly longer screw that was included in your original type-1 kit. The type-2 kit gives you the option of attaching the sling one the support side. Experimenting with different carry and deployment techniques. It’s good to have on the stock, but I don’t see a need to have it on the hand guard or forward end of the firearm.
