Precision Barrel Fitting by Hinant
Superb book. This is my second copy. A must have for doing quality bolt action barreling.

Best By Far
I've purchased many gunsmithing books but this, by far, has the best explanation for rifle re-barreling and chambering. Processes explained clearly and, most importantly, are accompanied by clear diagrams.
5
A great book
Very well-written and detailed book on barrel-fitting. Everything in the description is true and accurate. Pretty helpful if you've never fit a bolt-action barrel before, and VERY informative if you're used to just doing one type.
5
The definitive ork
If you have ever wanted to accurately fit rifle barrels, you need to get this book. Mr. Hinnant presents, in a clear precise manner, everything necessary to do a complete, professional job. The techniques presented assume some knowledge of machine procedures, and the ability to read plans, as well as access to a lathe. The illustrations prepared by the author are clear and complete.

Precision Rifle Fitting by JOHN HINNANT
Written for older lathes that cannot handle threading and chambering through the headstock however explains in granular detail threading and chambering using a steady rest. Does not discuss use of bore indicators. Explains tooling, work holding and lathe techniques in great detail. Presents accurate, dimensioned mechanical drawings for all jigs and work holding required to perform operations discussed. Covers all the steps and jigs required for truing a receiver. Highlights the differences between many popular receivers and the different barreling techniques required for each. Organized step by step. Overall a very good book.
