BLACK HILLS AMMUNITION - NEW RIFLE 5.56X45 NATO OPEN TIP MATCH RIFLE AMMO

Bought this to supplement my SHTF ammo stash. Just scary accurate out of both of my ARs(10.5" pistol and 16" carbine). Still clocks 2650fps out of my 10.5" and clover leafs at 50 meters using a benched rest and an Aimpoint T1. I cannot ask for more consistent and reliable ammo. Cannot recommend it enough. It's spendy yes, but you get your money's worth with the 50rd boxes and that precision devastation that occurs on target. Buy now, thank me later

I have been searching for a good round to use with by Ballistic Advantage 5.55 and Black Hills seems to be one of the few manufacturers that has match quality 5.56. I took them to the 100 yard range and clocked them with my LabRadar. The groupings were pretty good, but the Standard Deviation on the velocity was over 15. I expect match quality factory ammo to be below 10 FPS (with Federal Gold Medal Match .308 168 SMK I have consistently gotten less than 8). That said I took them to the 1000 yard range with my velocity data and derived ballistic coefficient and was able to hit steel 4 out 5 times at 580 yards with my 11.5 AR pistol. Similar results with the Black Hills 69 Gr TMK (better ballistic coefficient). It was a big torso sized steel plate so a bit of latitude there. I do wish they had more consistent velocity.

The brass casings were terrible, totally discolored (not the annealing coloring) covered in spots of discoloration and score marks. These were obviously previously fired brass and not even cleaned prior to reloading. Also box stated “NEW” production, not reloads. Also a caution about shooter reloading this ammunition! Other manufacturers clearly state “reloadable” on their ammunition.
