Great When You Need It
If you ever need to fill a dovetail and a barrel because you've removed the sight apparatus and you don't want an empty dovetail to catch or snag on things the dovetail blanks come in handy. I've used these multiple times over there years they work really well.
Economical and easy to work with
This cut to fit sight blank is a great economical route, allowing you to custom fit the sight blank to the barrel. I also appreciate the low height, minimizing the obtrusion in the sight picture with aperture sights, and keeping the lines of the rifle clean. Although I have not tried it yet, given these are mild steel the blank can be fitted and peened to the barrel, then filed to completely fill the dove tail slot. I've only purchased one, which was of the correct width/size.
Sizing Problem Fixed
Compliments to Brownells for removing the undersize product from inventory. Just received 2 pieces and they are full size as advertised.
Undersized Stock
I ordered 3 of these and 2 were very undersized and measured as narrow as .360" instead of .375". They passed through the dovetail with no resistance at all. The third one was undersized at one end so part of it was usable. I returned the other 2. I hope Brownells purges the bad stock and doesn't resell it!
