What is the KCI USA, INC. - AK-47 75rd Drum Magazine 7.62x39mm Black Steel?

Kalshnikovs are so much fun to shoot, it’s a pity you have to stop to reload. With a KCI 75-rd AK-47 drum magazine, you don’t have to reload quite so often! Based on an original Chinese pattern, KCI’s big AK-47 drum is engineered for reliable feeding so you can send plenty of lead down range. Unlike other drum magazines that you have to load one round at a time from the top, you can easily load KCI’s drum by opening the rear cover and dropping rounds in. No need to wrestle with increasingly strong spring pressure. When you’re ready to use the mag, give the winding key a few twists to tighten the spring, snap the mag in your rifle, and you are ready to blast away. Mag can even be stored fully loaded with no pressure on the spring.

  • Steel body with matte black finish
  • Clear polymer cover for easy round count
  • Fits any 7.62x39mm AK-47/AKM (not AK-74!) that uses double-stack mags

For maximum firepower from your AK plus reliable function at an excellent price, grab a KCI AK-47 75-round drum magazine - or several. No Kalashnikov arsenal is complete without one!

Reviews Summary
The AK-47 75RD Drum Magazine has mixed reviews. While some users appreciate its capacity and functionality after understanding the loading technique, others criticize its durability, frequent jams, and overall quality. It's seen as suitable for recreational use but not reliable enough for serious engagements. Users recommend alternatives for better reliability.
What Reviewers Are Saying
Product Quality
80%
Customers are largely dissatisfied with the quality of the drum magazine. Common issues noted include frequent jams and an overall cheap feel, particularly with the clear plastic components. Many express that it does not meet the standards expected for serious use, with a few considering it only for fun recreational purposes.
Functionality
60%
Despite the quality concerns, some users report that the magazine works correctly, especially after getting accustomed to the loading mechanism. While a few experienced flawless performance, others noted that jams occurred due to the product's design rather than user error. Mixed experiences highlight that functionality can be limited based on specific models or conditions.
Ease of Use
50%
Loading the drum magazine is considered more complicated than traditional stick magazines. Some reviews mention that the instructions are critical to avoid problems, adding a layer of complexity that may deter users who prefer straightforward loading mechanisms.
Size and Weight
40%
The magazine is described as bulky and heavy, which some users find impractical despite its large capacity. This physical aspect can make it cumbersome to carry or handle, especially compared to standard magazines, which may influence purchasing decisions.
Alternatives
30%
Several reviewers recommend looking at alternative products, specifically suggesting the Red Army Standard drum for better reliability. This sentiment indicates that while the KCI magazine may serve a niche purpose, better options are perceived to exist for serious users.

so far so good
Fit fine in my WASR-10/63; no mods required. Ran one full drum through the gun so far & it ran flawlessly. Sort of a heavy bulky way to carry a bunch of ammo, but it works & it should impress the mall ninjas. Don't lose the instructions as loading is a little more complicated than a stick magazine.

Great magazines
I used two of these magazines in my Arsenal SAM 7R-61. Actually loading the magazines in my rifle went off without a problem; I note this because I also use magpul 30 round magazines and they have been a little sticky. Pros: It's 75 rounds, feeding hasn't been a problem, and the only jam I had was because I didn't turn the tensioner enough (user error). Cons: Big, bulky, and relatively heavy. Reloading the magazines can be a little finicky (follow the instructions). Conclusion: If I knew someone who had a similar model of AK, I wouldn't recommend this to them without hesitation.

Budget drum, ok range toy
The clear plastic back plate is very weak, the whole drum does not feel sturdy, and the spring crank feels like it might break. They do work, but not flawlessly. I would only recommend KCI products to people who just want a fun range toy instead of someone whos in a preper mindset and would want to rely on them. Go buy a red army standard drum, its not that much more expensive!

Dont do it
Absolutely 100% piece of junk. Doesnt load right frequently having to clear the jam from follower not doing its job. Waste of money buy a 40 round mag and call it a day.
